Expanding access to home health care is key to better outcomes, greater patient independence, and lower healthcare costs.

Research shows that when patients can’t receive the home health services they need, the consequences are significant: hospital readmissions increase by 35%, mortality rates rise by 43%, emergency department visits climb by 16%, and total healthcare spending is 5.4% higher. It’s also clear that Americans value this care—70% of U.S. voters oppose cuts to Medicare home health benefits.

Today officially marks the start of National Care at Home Month! Each November we honor the valuable contributions of home care and hospice providers nationwide and inspire outreach to communities, media, and policymakers.

Please join us in welcoming Ryan O’Rear to our St. Louis Home Health Physical Therapy team! In his new role, Ryan will help patients regain strength, mobility, and independence in the comfort of their homes.

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys camping, hiking, spending time with his wife and kids, and all things sports. And here’s a fun fact: he plays competitive/professional wiffleball, traveling across the country and competing in the MO-Wiff league here in St. Louis.

Last week, we hit the field for our annual home office softball game—and what a day it was! The weather was beautiful, the game was lively, and the camaraderie rocked! 😎

From big hits to lots of laughs, it was a great reminder that teamwork and connection go well beyond the workplace. The final score was 26–14 - congrats to The Green Machine on a well-earned victory! 💚

In her new role as Hospice RN Case Manager, Joy will work closely with the Dover Hospice interdisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients at home.

Outside of work, Joy has been happily married to her high school sweetheart for 42 years. They have one adult child, and in her spare time, she enjoys scrapbooking and creating lasting memories.
