Pet Vet is a privately owned, three-doctor small animal practice in the Old Village district of Mount Pleasant, SC. We are looking to add a full-time Veterinary Receptionist to our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with owners and pets alike in a well-staffed, collaborative practice.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain a multiline phone system answering questions and scheduling appointments
• Check patients in and out
• Educate clients on general preventative medicine and nutrition
• Record appropriate information in patients’ records

What We’re Looking For

• Two or more years of veterinary receptionist experience preferred
• Cornerstone experience a plus but not required
• Solid organizational and problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset

Schedule

• Monday–Thursday: 8am–6pm
• Friday: 8am–5pm
• Rotating Saturdays: 8am–12pm
• Closed every Sunday
• One consistent weekday off each week

Compensation

• $18-20/hr based on experience

We are a PRIVATELY OWNED two doctor small animal practice located in the Old Village district of Mount Pleasant. We are owned by the colorful Dr. Brian King. Dr. King believes in creating a positive and fun culture by providing rewards and incentives for excellent customer service and teamwork. Pet Vet is not your typical cold and impersonal hospital environment. We pride ourselves on having a team where everyone brings something different to the table that complements each other’s strengths. Since unity and team building are important to us, we offer multiple after hours team building outings throughout the year. Some past examples include pottery painting, visiting the Van Gogh Experience that came to Charleston, a yearly private sunset costume cruise in October, various concerts and much more! WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Experienced applicants only. We prefer licensed applicants but will consider experienced applicants as well. Must have at least 2 years of technician experience
Position is F/T

Applicants must be proficient with (but not limited to):
Drawing blood
Radiology
Getting a thorough patient history
Administering medications
Placing IV catheters and setting up fluids
Assisting in surgery
Administering & monitoring anesthesia
Recovering surgical patients
Answering basic medical questions
Knowledge/ability to handle emergency situations
Bandaging
Performing lab tests such as in house blood work, ear smear, skin cytology, urinalysis

Everyone did such a phenomenal job helping us after Hurricane Helene that now we are asking for your help once again! Our hearts go out to those affected in Jamaica! We are proud to be a drop off center for ANIMAL supplies that our friends with Stella's Southern Angels will be taking to Florida and then on to Jamaica. Due to limited space, they can not accept any human supplies. We will update with lists of most needed items as we find out. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!

We have been asked to start collecting supplies for the animals of Jamaica and of course we said yes! We will need everything…food,bowls,leashes,collars,litter boxes ,veterinary supplies,etc etc. (We will not be taking any human supplies as we will need all the space in the trailer for animal supplies.) I have several different drop off locations in the Lowcountry or we can come pick up the supplies from you directly! We will be working closely with an amazing friend of mine who is already organizing air and boat transportarion to get the supplies to Jamaica as soon as possible. Right now the plan is to get as much as we can and deliver it to Miami for pickup. I’m in touch with some Jamaican rescues and shelters as well so anything they are in dire need of I can let everyone know. Please let me know if you can help out! This storm is proving to be a nightmare and I can only pray that the loss of human and animal life is minimal. You can also Venmo or PayPal us as well!! The City of Charleston has updated several animal control ordinances to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our furry friends. Key highlights include:

Adequate Care: New definitions for food, water, shelter, and overall care for outdoor pets.

Leash Law Update: Maximum leash length reduced to 8 feet—yes, retractable leashes count!

Livestock & Poultry: Permits are now clearly required for ownership within the city, and roosters are prohibited.

Microchipping & ID: Dogs and cats over 4 months must be microchipped—or wear a tag with current owner info.

Tethering Rules: Puppies under 12 months, females in heat, and nighttime tethering are prohibited; strict guidelines for weight and length apply.

Vehicle Safety: Pets left in vehicles must be monitored carefully in temperatures above 75°F.

Animal Rescues: Must register with Animal Control, maintain proper records, and follow intake rules for strays.

Looking for a new furry companion? What about 2? From strangers to best furr-ends, Shrimp and Shar have become very close here at Pet Vet. Both are trying to find a home, but why not take them both? In fact, one adoption fee covers BOTH cats and their spays too. Both kitties are about 8 weeks old, super friendly, and very playful.
