We were thrilled to host another successful Rock the Block food truck event at Somerby of Mount Pleasant!

Residents enjoyed delicious Greek cuisine from The Pita Stroller, a beautiful display prepared by our talented dining staff, and wonderful live entertainment with local band 40 Years Too Late. It was a fantastic afternoon filled with great food, music, and quality time spent with friends and family.

Residents got to meet The Pink Figgy—a rare, limited-edition Nissan Figaro exclusively built and sold in Japan in the early 1990s. With only 20,000 units ever made, this right-hand-drive, fixed-top convertible is now living her best life in Charleston, spreading Valentine’s cheer with plenty of sweet treats for our residents.

February is Black History Month, a time to honor the history, achievements, and contributions of Black Americans who have shaped our nation. We remember Harriet Tubman, whose lifelong commitment to service extended beyond her courageous work on the Underground Railroad. Later in life, she helped establish the Harriet Tubman Home for the Aged, caring for elderly and underserved members of her community — a powerful example of compassion, dignity, and community care that resonates with us today.
