Sometimes the best answer is to just slow down. Take in your surroundings and stay focused on what you can control and your immediate environment...don't let it pass you by. Control what you can control. If your thoughts are stuck or racing, think about what your anxiety is trying to tell you, what's the bigger picture, what can you control regarding your behaviors to be closer aligned to the person you want to be and the way you want to feel.

Guided imagery is a great way to achieve relaxation and manage stress. Most of the time when individuals are learning to meditate or think inwards there is a significant frustration with how difficult it is to concentrate or focus. Imagery is a great starting tool. With practice you'll be able to master your image and improve your ability to decrease your stress, improve your focus and feel a sense of control of racing thoughts. Here's how....Don't forget to incorporate all your senses and don't be frustrated at your wandering mind, just slowly bring it back to a detail of the picture you're working on. Other options are to use YouTube or apps like calm or headspace to have audio to follow along with (search 'guided imagery')

No, I'm not crazy and insensitive. It really can work and was made popular by Daya on Orange is the New Black. :) By engaging in some cardiovascular exercise your brain makes more logical sense of the racing heart, increased breathing, and other symptoms experienced during a panic attack which aids in turning off the panic center in the brain that keeps the panic attack going! The key to stopping any panic attack is to avoid fighting it, remain calm, and convince your brain that it's safe and not in danger. The symptoms are just a false alarm, hang in there! Sometimes something a bit different like jumping jacks may do a world of difference. Try it and let me know how it works!
