Today members of the department along with the ladies auxiliary put in a full day of spreading holiday cheer. We started with our annual boot drive, followed by escorting Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, and Santa’s elf around our service area and giving each child a photo op and a treat. We finished our night by visiting all of our Life Members and widows and singing Christmas carols and giving them poinsettias. These traditions are what makes our department the close knit group that it is and ipresses upon our new and young members the importance of remembering the people that came before us and built this fire department. We could not do this without the work of our volunteers and the great community we serve. We also collected over 50 pounds of food for the Westmoreland County Food Bank.

Last evening members spent time training together with Mt. Pleasant VFD on SCBAs as well as victim search and rescue. Firefighters traversed through simulated smoke conditions into multiple furnished rooms and hallways looking for victims. While training we were dispatched to a mutual aid call with Mt. Pleasant for a possible ambulance on fire. Units arrived on scene and found a blown radiator hose in the engine compartment.
