Service, Squad, UTV and Engine all participated in a prescribed burn yesterday evening at Greensburg Sportsmen’s Club. Crews burnt off approximately 46 acres of switch grass on their property and were assisted by Westmoreland County Team 211 Rough Terrain Support Unit. Service, Squad, and UTV crews worked the perimeter of the fields and put out hot spots during mop up to ensure fire didn’t spread to the wood line. Engine 37-1 provided water supply for all the brush units and ATVs on scene. This time was used to train new members on wildland fire behavior and control techniques.

For best firehall, we have Norvelt Volunteer Fire Department Club & Roosevelt Hall versus Bovard Ladies Auxiliary.

For best club, we have American Legion, Post 868 Lower Burrell, Pa versus Export Moose.

And for best restaurant, we have Keith Heinritz Katering versus Millie's.

Who is your favorite? Vote now at https://greensburgtimes.com/fish-fries/bracket

Remember, next week the church winner will vs the firehall winner and clubs will go up against the restaurant winner.

Then the next week we’ll find our overall winner!

Please share widely! The more people who vote, the better the results. We’ve had well over 1000 different people vote so far, which is way more than we thought would participate. Let’s see if we can break our record this week.

And please keep sending us recommendations on what fish fries we should attend ourselves, even if they aren’t still in the bracket.
