ANHE Member, Dr. Vivienne Pierce McDaniel joined Geoff Horsfield from EWG, for a roundtable with Congressman Eugene Vindman in Madison, Virginia to discuss the importance of support for USDA research into reducing pesticides and opposing federal preemption of state and local pesticide laws.

Congress is considering federal legislation that would grant pesticide companies sweeping legal immunity for over 16,000 pesticide products regulated by EPA from household weedkillers to restricted-use agricultural pesticides. Some pesticides have been linked to serious health harms, including cancer, neurotoxicity and harm to development and reproduction. Many of the local laws are designed to protect workers in farms and landscaping companies while some are designed to prohibit the use of toxic pesticides from being sprayed on school yards or on playgrounds.

ANHE advocates for the protection of policies that protect health at the local and state level!
