This week, BPHC convened HCCN leaders from across the country in Washington, DC for a dynamic forum focused on connection, collaboration, and forward-thinking innovation. Region IV+ HCCNs were proud to contribute to the conversation, with presentations on data governance, AI and FHIR adoption, and the continued progress of the HCCN National Collaborative. These discussions highlighted both the complexity of our work and the shared commitment to advancing data-driven care across health centers nationwide. Beyond the sessions, the opportunity to exchange ideas, share challenges and successes, and strengthen relationships with peers and federal partners was invaluable. KHCN is grateful to be part of such a dedicated, thoughtful, and innovative community of leaders working to best support the health centers we serve.

Friend to KHCN Dr. Ronald Dwinnells has just published this first article in the series, Lessons in Leadership and Life, in the Physician Leadership Journal of the American Association for Physician Leadership. The series focuses on leadership matters in healthcare, which Dr. Dwinnells knows something about having been the CEO of an FQHC, ONE Health Ohio, for more than three decades. Being raised in Kentucky and a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Dr. Dwinnells is a man of many talents and interests, including being a published author.

This article explores leadership's complexities, emphasizing learning from failures (FAME), thinking creatively, and pushing beyond comfort zones for success and inspiration.

Dr. McKee offered timely and useful information to our attendees, including SBH dentists. We had a great morning discussing how to best serve the dental needs of health center patients.

KHCN was honored to accept the Kentucky REC HIPAA Privacy and Security Excellence Award at their October conference. In making the award, Kentucky REC Managing Director Brent McKune stated, “KHCN has set the gold standard for HIPAA compliance and data security in Community Health Centers. The continued funding provides technical assistance and support to help safeguard electronically protected health information and keep the supported organizations up-to-date and compliant with HIPAA regulations. This unwavering commitment to HIPAA security not only strengthens patient trust but also elevates the entire healthcare system in Kentucky.” The recognition really goes to all the leadership and staff at KHCN member organizations for doing the work to protect and secure patient privacy and information.

Congratulations to KHCN member Sterling Health Care as they celebrated their 9th site in Paris with a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday. The clinic began seeing patients on October 1 and boasts beautiful photography by Bobby Shiflet of Frames on Main Gallery.
