There is no charge for the first Yoga class so this is a perfect opportunity to join us.

Yoga & Meditation with Carol - Starts Sunday, November 7
Sunday, 10:30 am - 11:30 pm - on Zoom

While we usually think of yoga as a physical exercise, the tradition of yoga has always included meditation as part of its experience. Breath aligned yoga serves to settle the roaming tendencies of the mind and prepares the body for seated meditation. This Sunday morning class includes "all levels" yoga practice, breath work (pranayama) and focused relaxation followed by comfortable seated meditation. No prior experience with yoga or meditation is required for this class!

COST: One class punch ($10) or $15 for Drop-In

First Street Yoga is both "in person" and Zoom. Jen teaches Gentle Yoga Thursday, 10:00 am and Wednesday 6:30 pm while Ann teaches a class a notch above gentle on Thursday 10:00 am. Carol teaches a zoom class on Monday at 6:00 pm and Thursday at 10:00 am. Lots of options! PM me for more details!

It is unfortunate but wise that First Street Yoga classes are cancelled until Sunday, April 5, 2020 because of the need to be safe during this time of the coronavirus. Be safe and follow all guidelines to avoid illness AND avoid inadvertently spreading this virus to family, friends and others you may not even know! Of course, the Yoga teachers and staff at FSCC will evaluate the situation before April 5, 2020 to determine if classes will resume at that time. Be safe!

During my own weekly yoga class today, my teacher, Fannie Hungerford, talked about the Sanskrit word, sukha.

Sukha is literally translated as "space" and in yoga philosophy space is considered to be something that is inherently beneficial.

The space of sukha allows for a sense of ease, comfort and lightness in the body. Space also provides us with room.

This can be something as straightforward as room to maneuver, but also with things less tangible like the room to change our minds, room to change position on long held beliefs, room to change our habits, and room to see things from a new angle. [ Read more... ]
