April is National Parkinson’s Awareness month, and we want to share a story of a member who participates in our Postpone Parkinson's exercise classes every Tuesday and Thursday.

“When I was first diagnosed with Parkinson's, we felt lost and unsure of what to do next. That's when we discovered the Wellness Center at Knox Community Hospital, and it changed everything. The Parkinson's exercise program, has helped me regain strength, improve my mobility and feel more confident every day. Taking big steps across the Aerobic Room may seem simple, but for us, it has made a world of difference. Even more important is the supportive community the program fosters- meeting with others who share the same similar experiences allows us to learn from each other, encourage one another, and find hope. The Wellness Center is more than a place to exercise; its a place where patients and families feel cared for, understood, and empowered. Knox Community Hospital Wellness Center is truly making a difference in our lives.’

This month we celebrate National Donate Life Month - a time to educate about organ, eye, and tissue donation, and to honor and remember donors and the lives they have saved and healed. Your decision to be an organ, eye, and tissue donor gives hope to the 100,000 people on the national organ transplant waiting list who are hoping for a second chance at life.

“Organ donation is one of the most profound gifts a person can give. In rural communities like ours, where neighbors know and care for one another, the spirit of giving is part of who we are. When someone chooses to register as an organ donor, they are offering hope, healing, and a second chance at life,” says Erika Bjork, Director of Case Management at KCH.

Today is National Doctors’ Day, a moment to recognize physicians with sincere gratitude for their special skills and talents. At Knox Community Hospital, we are proud of the physicians on our medical staff, and we commend them for their exceptional dedication and commitment to patient care every day.

“Doctors are more than healers—they are problem solvers and advocates for patient well-being, and a most valuable member of our entire healthcare team,” said Bruce D. White, President and Chief Executive Officer. “On National Doctors’ Day, we come together to recognize and thank them for their expertise, compassion, and the countless ways they improve the lives of those we serve.”

Minimally Invasive Technology to Help Control High Blood Pressure is Now Available at Knox Community Hospital

We are pleased to offer the new renal denervation (RDN) procedure for certain patients with high blood pressure. Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in November 2023, the Symplicity Spyral™ renal denervation (RDN) system involves a minimally invasive procedure that targets nerves near the kidneys that can become overactive and cause high blood pressure.
