📢 If the federal government shutdown continues, November SNAP benefits may be delayed or reduced nationwide — including right here in Indiana.
While we hope Congress restores funding soon, it’s important for our community to know that help is available in Mount Vernon if anyone faces a food gap or emergency:
🍎 River Bend Food Pantry

Open Mon/Wed/Fri 9 AM – Noon
Provides emergency groceries (2–3 days of food) once per month for Posey County residents. Bring ID and proof of address.
🥫 Posey County CAPE Food Distribution Center

Open Tue & Thu 8 AM – 3 PM
Offers non-perishables, baby supplies (when available), and other emergency assistance.
🍽️ At The Cross Mission

Provides food and basic-needs help — and may have meal service. Call ahead for current availability.
🙏 First United Methodist Church Pantry
227 E Lincoln Ave • Wednesdays 10 AM – 1 PM
A friendly, smaller church-based pantry open most Wednesdays — call ahead to confirm.
