It’s been a while since our last update, and we wanted to check in and let everyone know how things are going.

He is doing well and maintaining his kidney 🙏. After a long wait, he was finally able to have the hernia surgery he had to put off until after transplant. Recovery has been going really well, and he is healing as expected. We are hopeful and optimistic that he will be able to return to work in the new year, 2026.

We plan to continue maintaining this page as part of his CKD and transplant journey. This page is always open to anyone with questions, or to help support a fellow CKD’er or dialysis patient — because this journey is truly not for the weak.

We have both learned so much through this process, and we want to give back in any way we can — whether that’s sharing advice, answering questions, or simply being there for another family walking a similar path. We know what it feels like to think there is no light at the end of the tunnel. And if you’re fortunate enough, that light will come. Thank God for us, it came sooner rather than later.

Thank you to everyone who supported, prayed, shared, and walked alongside us during this journey. Your kindness meant more than words can ever say 💚

Friday will mark 4 months since Heath’s kidney transplant, and as he went in for his routine biopsy today, we couldn’t help but pause and reflect on this journey. The past couple of years have been some of the toughest we’ve faced, but being here today fills us with so much gratitude and hope.

We want to thank everyone who supported us along the way—especially those who attended the Kidney for Keckler benefit last year and have stood by us so wholeheartedly. Your love, generosity, and encouragement have carried us through and helped make moments like today possible. We are truly blessed to have friends and loved ones who step in when it matters most.

We are so excited for the future-continuing to grow, love, and live life better and more fully every day. This moment is a beautiful reminder of the precious gift of Heath’s health and the life we get to share with each other and with Lyric.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our journey. Every day, every moment, is a blessing. 💚💙 Let this be your reminder to make yourself an organ donor next time you update your license🌀

This is what a hero looks like!

The amazing person standing next to Heath in this photo is Isaias — someone we now consider part of our family forever. He is donating his kidney as part of a donor swap so that Heath can receive a life-saving transplant in just a few days.

When Heath was diagnosed with kidney failure, we didn’t know what the road ahead would look like. It’s been tough — hospital visits, dietary changes, scary setbacks. But through it all, we kept hoping and praying for a match. We never imagined someone like Isaias would come into our lives and selflessly say “yes.”

Isaias is giving up a piece of himself, not even for his own recipient, but to set a chain in motion — a chain that will end with Heath getting a second chance at life. That kind of love and bravery is hard to put into words.

Our hearts are so full, and we’re feeling every emotion right now. We’re overwhelmed with gratitude, nerves, and so much hope.

Please keep both of these incredible men in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare for surgery. We can never thank Isaias enough for what he’s doing. Because of him, Heath has a shot at health, at freedom from dialysis, and at a future that once felt uncertain.

Thank you, Isaias and to his girlfriend Melissa for supporting him in his decision🙏🏼💚

Someone reached out tonight saying they got the approval to do a kidney paired exchange or voucher program from Cleveland Clinic🙌🏼✨

Paired exchange can work if there’s others who match, then mix and match donors. Voucher he would donate instantly and Heath moves to the top the list for next kidney that matches. He told them he was ready as soon as possible & should be hearing back. We’re so excited for the good news!♥️
