“In patients with severe, refractory hyperemesis gravidarum, two off label medications were associated with rapid and clinically meaningful reductions in nausea, vomiting, and weight loss.”

We’ve officially expanded care into Georgia, supporting patients across the state who are living with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). Our model combines telehealth, remote care management, and local infusion partners—so you can get HG care without unnecessary barriers.

Dr. Housholder also consults with HG patients **throughout the U.S.** via our out-of-state consult program. Wherever you live, we’ll help you understand your options and create a plan that makes sense for your body and your pregnancy.

💛 Alabama patients: no matter where you are in the state - we’ve got you. Reach out, and we’ll work with you to get medications and care in place. You don’t have to navigate HG alone.

Shop our Free Pantry! We have shelf meal packs for you and your kiddos available in clinic. Just ask one of us to guide you to the pantry - there is no income limit to shop our free pantry.

While there is a pause on SNAP benefits, WIC is still fully funded and available for families meeting eligibility guidelines. You do not have to have Medicaid to qualify for WIC - If you make less than 185% of the Federal Poverty Limit, you qualify. Tip: Your unborn child counts as a dependent when verifying eligibility. It can take up to 30 days after you apply to get WIC.

Our nonprofit, The HG Relief Project, is hard at work raising funds to make sure every HG mom in AL has the care and support they need. This month we’ve had the honor of receiving funds from the for our patients in Shelby and St Clair counties. Thank you United Ways!

Our mutual aid for patients includes:
- financial aid
- employment advocacy
- medication costs, shipping
- coordination of care and benefits
- mental heath coordination
- transportation coordination

All of the above is made possible with funding from The Daniel Foundation, and private donors. If you want to donate or get involved, or if you need mutual aid, please reach out! We haven’t met a barrier we weren’t willing to cross for our HG mamas :)

A couple snapshots of Dr. Housholder, Founder of The Morning Sickness Clinic, presenting on the final day of Project Healthcare by the Nashville Entrepreneur Center. He shared how our clinic’s approach to treating nausea and vomiting in pregnancy reduces ER visits, lowers hospital admissions, and decreases the overall cost of care for patients.

Our front desk QUEEN 👑 is off to school & her next adventure!

For the past two years, Elizabeth has been the calm voice on the phone, the friendly face at the front desk, and the one behind every Spruce message and text — making sure our HG mamas felt cared for from the very start. She even kept Dr. H on schedule… most of the time 😅

Meet our itty bitty clinic manager, Lexi ❤️❤️❤️ For the last 9 so months she’s been working at clinic, strapped to one of our nurses or napping in the break room. Her mama Rachael is a super mom (and we’re so happy she’s one of our nurses!)

We’re honored and elated to announce that Dr Marlena Fejzo is a part of our team at The Morning Sickness & HG Clinic as our Chief Scientific Officer!

For the past 2 years, our clinic has collected data and biological samples for Dr Fejzo’s HG research. Together we have preliminary data that shows that early intervention in our clinic’s HG patients reduces severity of symptoms. Early intervention leads to lower HELP scores at 12 weeks’ gestation!

Dr Fejzo’s team found our Black patients’ HELP scores are 4 points higher on average than our White patients’ scores. This is consistent with reported increased rates of HG in the Black population. Her team is trying to understand what factors contribute to more severe symptoms in Black women.

Dr Fejzo is Time’s Woman of the Year 2024, Forbes 50 under 50, HER Foundation () Research Director and has received *numerous* awards for her pioneering research.

Just this week she was awarded the inaugural 2025 BioInnovation Institute & Science Translational Medicine Prize for Innovations in Women’s Health for her leading discoveries about the genetic basis of severe morning sickness.

There’s more to come from this research collaboration!
