In recent years, funeral service in America has changed dramatically. More families are choosing direct cremation with no service, no gathering, and no time set aside to remember a life that has been lived.
While every family has the right to choose what is best for them, itโs worth pausing to consider what we may be losing along the way.
For generations, funerals and memorials have served an important purposeโnot just to handle arrangements, but to honor the deceased, support the living, and strengthen the fabric of our communities. These moments help us acknowledge loss, share stories, and remind one another that a life mattered.
When remembrance disappears entirely, grief often has nowhere to go. The absence of ritual doesnโt remove painโit simply asks people to carry it alone.

๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐, we believe that honoring a life is important, whether that looks like a traditional funeral, a memorial service, a visitation, or a simple gathering of family and friends. It doesnโt have to be elaborate or expensiveโbut it should be intentional.
Our role is not to pressure families, but to remind them that saying goodbye matters. Remembering matters. And caring for one another in times of loss is still one of the most meaningful things we do as a society.
