🦃💙 Bringing Thanksgiving Home

This week, our Baxter Health Home Health team came together in a special way—by preparing Thanksgiving meals for some of our Baxter home health families. Our nurses, therapists, aides, social workers, and office staff all helped make sure that those who may be facing health challenges could still enjoy the warmth and comfort of a holiday meal.

These homemade dishes are more than food—they’re a reminder that our patients are part of our Baxter Health family. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve, to support, and to bring a little extra joy to the homes of those we care for.

Wishing all of our patients and families a safe, healthy, and heart-filled Thanksgiving. 🏡🦃💙

At the 2025 Arkansas Hospital Association (AHA) Annual Meeting, Ron Peterson, President and CEO of Baxter Health, was presented with the A. Allen Weintraub Memorial Award, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the healthcare industry and his unwavering commitment to both his community and the well-being of patients and staff at Baxter Health.

The A. Allen Weintraub Memorial Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Arkansas Hospital Association. Named in honor of Allen Weintraub, a beloved longtime administrator at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock, the award celebrates the qualities that made Weintraub such a revered figure in both the healthcare industry and the community. Weintraub’s dedication to the hospital and healthcare system, as well as his devotion to the community, earned him the admiration of his peers and colleagues.

The A. Allen Weintraub Memorial Award is given to hospital administrators who demonstrate similar qualities of excellence, compassion, and leadership. Awardees are recognized not only for their exceptional contributions to the health and welfare of their communities but also for their strong civic commitment, their passion for quality care, and their visionary influence on healthcare.

Ron Peterson’s recognition comes in acknowledgement of his exceptional leadership at Baxter Health, where he has served as President and CEO for more than 18 years. Under his stewardship, Baxter Health has continued to grow and provide high-quality healthcare to the residents of north central Arkansas and south central Missouri. Peterson’s commitment to both the hospital and the community mirrors the values held by the late Allen Weintraub, particularly his dedication to the improvement of healthcare for Arkansans, his compassionate care for employees, and his consistent focus on advancing healthcare services in the region.

Congratulations to Sami Johnson, ADN, RN, RNC-OB, Baxter Health Women and Newborn Care Center! She was presented a Heroes with Halos Award by Sarah Edwards, Executive Director, Baxter Health Foundation; Amy Myers, MSN, RN, NPD-BC, WNCC Director; and members of the WNCC Staff.

A donor wrote:
"Sami saved the day and provided relief to family members as she miraculously found a vein on a small child, allowing proper diagnosis. After several attempts and lots of tears from the child and parent/grandparents, Sami was called from the Women & Newborn Care Center to the ER to help with a blood draw on a one-year-old. Sami’s one and only stick provided relief for the child and his family. We are thankful for your skills and your compassion! You make a difference!"

Congratulations to Rebekkah Crawford, BSN, RN, Baxter Health Women and Newborn Care Center! She was presented a Heroes with Halos Award by Sarah Edwards, Executive Director, Baxter Health Foundation; Amy Myers, MSN, RN, NPD-BC; and members of the WNCC Staff.

A donor wrote:
"This summer, my wife gave birth to our first children - twin boys. One of our boys ended up having to spend several days in the NICU, adding to the stress and uncertainty of being a first time parent. While we had many great nurses during our stay at Baxter Health, there was one person that stood out above all the rest.
Rebekkah stepped into our room at exactly the time we needed her the most. She seemed to know exactly what we needed and how to help us. She sat with my wife and listened to how she was feeling and what she needed. Rebekkah walked us through things we were struggling with and answered all our questions without ever making us feel like we were silly for asking them. Throughout the rest of our stay, Rebekkah made it a point to come into our room and check on us and offer words of encouragement that made all the difference to us at that time.

Outside of our room, there was a sign outlining Baxter Health’s approach to nursing and as far as we’re concerned, it should be a picture of Rebekkah. We can’t ever thank her enough for the level of care she gave us and our boys during our stay!"
