Baxter Health is pleased to announce Darby McCann as the new Coordinator for the Schliemann Center for Women's Health.

Darby steps into this role after serving as Program Coordinator for the Baxter Health Foundation, where she developed a deep understanding of the Schliemann Center’s mission and its impact on women throughout the region. Her experience with the Foundation has uniquely prepared her to continue advancing the Schliemann Center’s commitment to compassionate, comprehensive care.

A recent addition to the Mountain Home community, Darby and her husband, Lucas, relocated to the area in 2025. Originally from Malvern, Arkansas, Darby is a 2020 graduate of Henderson State University. She has built her career around serving others, including her impactful work at the Percy and Donna Malone Child Safety Center in Arkadelphia. Her background reflects a strong dedication to advocacy, education, and hands-on community support.

Darby brings both professional expertise and personal passion to her new role. A lover of music, animals, and creative pursuits, she leads worship, teaches guitar, and dreams of one day owning a small hobby farm. Grounded in her faith, Darby is deeply committed to empowering and educating women at every stage of life.

“I am truly honored to step into this role and continue supporting the mission of the Schliemann Center,” McCann said. “I look forward to building relationships and serving the women of our community.”

Baxter Health is encouraging women in the community to take advantage of Grace and Growth, an ongoing support group for female survivors of sexual assault held at the Schliemann Center for Women's Health.

Established last October, Grace and Growth meets on the third Tuesday of every month from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Schliemann Center. Participation is open to women ages 18 and over, and no registration is required.

Nationally, 1 in 5 women report experiencing sexual assault in their lifetime. Baxter Health Cline Emergency Center nurses care for women impacted by sexual assault each year, reinforcing the importance of accessible, ongoing support beyond immediate medical care.

Grace and Growth is led by a dedicated, multidisciplinary team that includes three licensed therapists, five Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs), a case manager, and Kelly Dicks, MSN, RN, Cline Emergency Center Director. Together, they provide a safe, welcoming, and confidential environment where participants can learn coping strategies, share experiences, build resilience, or simply listen.

“This support group was created with the hope to empower, strengthen, and support women that have been sexually assaulted, to give them the confidence and power that have been taken from them,” said Celia W**d, BSN, RN, Cline Emergency Center. “We want survivors to know they are not alone and that healing is possible in a compassionate and supportive environment.”

For more information, visit baxterhealth.org/GraceandGrowth, or call the Schliemann Center at (870) 508-2345.

Today we celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day 💙

In our inpatient behavioral health units, kindness is more than a gesture — it’s part of healing. A supportive word, a moment of patience, a listening ear — these small acts can make a meaningful difference in someone’s recovery journey.

We are grateful for our dedicated team members who show compassion every day, and for our patients who demonstrate courage, resilience, and kindness toward one another.

Healing happens here. And it begins with kindness.

We’re proud to recognize Emilee Guernsey, RN, Baxter Health Cardiology Clinic at Harrison, as she reflects on the journey that led her to becoming a registered nurse. 💙

Emilee’s path toward nursing has been shaped by both her professional experience and her role as a mother. While working in the Cardiology Clinic, she developed a deeper appreciation for patient care and the meaningful impact nurses have each day. Becoming a mom didn’t change her dream of becoming a nurse, it clarified it.

Balancing parenthood and continuing her education was no small task, but Emilee’s determination proves that ambition and family life can grow side by side.

We’re grateful for Emilee’s dedication, perseverance, and heart for patient care, and we’re excited to see the continued impact she’ll make as part of our team! Congratulations, Emilee!
