🫢 In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week we wanted to highlight the importance of healthy relationships.

πŸ€— Whether it be friends, family members, romantic partners, or coworkers, it's important that we prioritize relationships that energize us and bring us joy.

πŸ’‘ Some signs of a healthy relationship are: they want to spend time with you, they motivate you to grow, they celebrate your successes, they make you feel loved, they are willing to be vulnerable, and they show up for you.

🧠 If you notice these signs within a relationship, hold onto it! It's likely that this relationship is positively impacting your wellbeing.

πŸ‘‡ Comment below what sign resonates most with you!

πŸ’• Happy Mother's Day from JRM&A! As a women-owned and operated business, we recognize the strength and resilience within each mom.

πŸ‘ We believe there is great importance in celebrating mothers and they work they do each day inside and outside of the home.

πŸ’« Be sure to let your mothers and loved ones know how grateful you are for them and all that they do for you.

πŸ” Acknowledging the impact that our moms have on our families and lives is a great way to help them feel seen and valued.

πŸ’ In honor of Mother's Day approaching we wanted to highlight mom guilt. Mom guilt is the worry that many mothers have about making mistakes and trying to get everything right.

❗ Mom guilt often comes from unrealistic expectations and the ideals of being the "perfect mom".

πŸ’• Some ways to overcome feelings of mom guilt are to keep things in perspective, identify sources of guilt, practice compassion, and limit comparison to others.

πŸ’« Most moms don't recognize just how much they do in a day for their kids and family!

πŸ’ͺ Try being your own biggest supporter. Be proud of your hard work and successes each day, no matter how big or small, and speak kindly to yourself!

πŸ’œ Motherhood is different for everyone, just because the way you parent doesn't match the way someone else does, doesn't mean it's wrong. Focus on being the best mother you can and limit your comparison to others, especially what you see on social media because oftentimes that is unrealistic.

πŸ”‹ Energy givers are activities that provide us with energy and help us recharge.

πŸ’« Incorporating them into our daily schedule increases our resilience to stress, overwhelm, and anxiety.

πŸ˜₯ Energy drainers are the opposite, and are the things that we are putting up with, which drain us of our energy.

🧠 Examples are: one sided relationships, excessive phone use, and people pleasing.

🌟 To maintain our wellbeing, it's important that we keep a good balance between energy givers and drainers.

❌ If energy drainers outweigh our energy givers we are likely to experience burnout and other mental health related issues.

❓What are other energy givers that you find helpful?

πŸ’Ÿ While there is no specific "right" way to respond to someone when they are upset, it is important to respond with validation and support so that they feel heard in their struggles.

πŸ‘ By acknowledging what they have said or the pain they have described, you can let them know you understand them and the way they are feeling.

βœ… Other ways to show support and validation are to let them know that they are not crazy for feeling a certain way. You can do this by letting them know you would feel the same way in that situation or that you have actually felt the same way before.

πŸ‘¬ Letting them know they are not alone and that their emotions and feelings are valid is a great way to normalize feelings of anger and frustration.

❓ How can you support a friend or loved one today?

❌ Toxic positivity is the idea that despite dire circumstances, people should remain optimistic.

πŸ˜₯ Toxic positivity promotes the idea that we must keep our painful emotions inside and dismiss our negative feelings by responding with optimism.

πŸ—£οΈ While this may seem ideal, it is unrealistic because it is natural to have negative feelings and struggle from time to time.

🧠 When we deny the experiences of others and ignore the fact that they are upset, we cause more harm than good.

πŸ’“ It's best to offer support and validation when someone shares their struggles with you. Let them know what they are going through is okay and ask them how you can best support them.

πŸ’« Which way would you support and validate a friend/family member?

🧠 Anxiety disorders are a group of mental health conditions that involve excessive and persistent anxiety and fear, often accompanied by physical symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, sweating, and trembling.

πŸ‘€ They can be caused by a combination of genetic, environmental, and psychological factors, and can be treated with a variety of therapies, including medication, psychotherapy, and lifestyle changes.

πŸ’• Additional strategies to help reduce and manage anxiety day to day include: spending time outdoors, listening to music, and stimulating the 5 senses.

πŸ” Since anxiety is also accompanied by physical symptoms such as fatigue, muscle aches, tension and headaches, an ice roller or acupressure mat are ways that you can manage physical discomfort.

🧦 Additionally, cozy socks, robes, and blankets, scented candles and oil diffusers are gentle ways to calm our nervous system. Let us know what tools resonate most with you!

πŸ‘ In honor of Mental Health Month, we wanted to talk about core beliefs and how they can affect our well-being.

πŸ‘€ Core beliefs are the beliefs we have about ourselves, others, and the world. Core beliefs are important because they affect the lens through which we see ourselves and others.

πŸ’‘ When we shift these central beliefs to be more positive and realistic, it allows us to develop new perspectives on life.

😒 However, when we have rigid core beliefs it often keeps us stuck in negative thinking and leads to mental health complications which can prevent us from building self-love.

πŸ” By uncovering our core beliefs about ourselves and the world, we can work on challenging them and creating more accurate self-statements. Some ways to do this are through positive affirmations, self-reflection, thought-stopping, mindfulness, and self compassion.

πŸ’ Our thoughts determine our reality! When we are only open to the potential negatives in each situation, it stops us from seeing the positives and or being hopeful.

🫢 We can develop a well rounded view of our thoughts by challenging them and looking at them from multiple perspectives.

πŸ’« When we fail or make a mistake, we can shift our thinking from negative to positive by offering ourselves grace and compassion.

πŸ’Ÿ We can also recognize and celebrate our own unique qualities rather than basing our worth on comparisons.

🧠 Next time you experience a negative thought, pause, take a deep breath and try resetting your mindset.

βœ… If you are feeling overwhelmed, what can you do to take care of yourself? If you are feeling guilty, how can you reframe that thought to make it more realistic?

πŸ’œ In recognition of International No Diet Day, I wanted to share about some ways that you can practice mindful eating!

πŸ‘πŸΌ Mindful eating involves paying attention to our food without judgment, moment by moment. It is a great way for you to connect with your body and notice your internal feelings of hunger and fullness.

πŸ‘„ When eating your meal, take a few moments to notice the way the food tastes, and how your body is feeling.

πŸ—£οΈ It may also be helpful to try eating slowly, drinking water periodically, and sitting at an actual table.

βœ… Pay attention to your body’s sensations of fullness and check on your hunger levels throughout the meal. By eating mindfully you can improve digestion, feel full with less food, and break unhealthy eating habits.
