Hip flexors play a central role in the body by enabling daily movements. Prolonged sitting often causes the hip flexors to remain in a shortened position, which can negatively impact posture, limit hip mobility, and place added strain on the lower back. Addressing hip flexor tightness helps restore proper pelvic alignment, reducing stress on the spine and allowing for more efficient movement during walking, running, and exercise. Physical therapy goes beyond stretching alone by identifying movement imbalances and improving strength and mobility.

It's January 9th, how are you doing with your New Year's resolutions? People often set goals that are great for improving their life but are too lofty and too many to realistically achieve. Be kind to yourself; start with 1 small goal, like exercise 15 minutes daily, eat a healthy lunch each day, or go to bed 20 minutes early each night (without your phone). Research and my experience in health care shows that small changes are the ones likely to become habits. And those habits set you up for longer term health. Text or Call us at 650-282-5554 if you are not sure how to start, have pain or functional limitations that make getting started hard. Keeping you moving at Bodies In Motion PT.

Continuing our gratitude theme from Thanksgiving. What are you grateful for? Write down 2-3 things each day you are grateful for to help train you to look for the good and the positive. Research shows people who practice gratitude are happier, more resilient, and healthier both physically and mentally. They have reduced anxiety and depression and stronger social relationships. Gratitude can also improve cognitive function and even change the brain's neural pathways over time to notice the good. Practice that attitude of gratitude. Keeping you healthy at Bodies In Motion Physical Therapy.
