In honor of the Blue Party tonight đź’™

Throwing it back to 2016—when volunteers in blue suits took to the core, inviting the community in and building the energy that filled the room.

It’s the 30th year of TASP and that same spirit is still what brings us together. See you tonight (Tickets available at the door).

Meet Kyle & Leigh Glerum! A husband and wife volunteer duo who have been part of the TASP community for two years and counting.

For them, it’s pretty simple: they just love sharing the stoke.

“We love to ski, and there’s no better feeling than sharing that — watching someone who never thought they could ski fall in love with it.”

Kyle tells people all the time:
“The feeling of seeing an athlete light up on the snow when they never thought that was a possibility — that’s why I volunteer.”

TASP is grateful that they show up week after week ready to ski, connect, and share what they love. That’s what it’s all about.

Interested in learning more about TASP and how to be part of the program? Come to the Blue Party this Thursday! Tickets are available online and at the door — https://tellurideadaptivesports.org/event/the-blue-party-celebrating-tasps-30th/

A little recap from last week’s Military Adventure Week.

The camaraderie was strong all week, and it felt like everyone hit new goals along the way. From hiking up Mountain Quail to getting back on a snowboard after 4 years, there were so many big wins.

It’s officially Spring!
Our instructors, volunteers, and athletes are still getting after it on the mountain while we squeeze every turn out of the season. Only 3 more weeks of winter—let’s make them count!

Risho has been part of the TASP community since 2015, and this year he is celebrating a huge milestone: graduating highschool! Over the years, it has been an honor to watch him grow up on the mountain. Risho and his family have become such a special part of the TASP community, and we truly love having them with us each winter.

Last week, Risho had the chance to spend time with Telluride Ski Patrol and learn about their avalanche rescue dogs—an unforgettable day and a perfect example of the unique experiences that come with being part of this mountain community (and yes, there were some very good dogs).

When asked why he loves winter with TASP, Risho said it best:
“Because it’s the funnest time of the year!”

His mom shared what TASP has meant to their family:

“Risho has grown up with TASP. You may think you were just teaching him to ski all these years, but what you really gave him was the confidence to believe he belongs on the mountain—and in the world. Some of the happiest moments of his childhood and teenage years have been with TASP.”

Risho, we are so proud of you and so grateful to have shared all these years on the mountain together.

TASP is a true ski-in, ski-out program. Our main program office has been located under the chondola/Chair 1 since 2006—right where athletes can access the mountain with ease. Stop by and say hello.

To the early days of TASP’s fundraisers, back in 2010.

Pictured here are Executive Director Courtney, Board Member Steve, and Janie Goldberg- some of the original people who helped get the Blue Party and TASP’s annual auction off the ground. Their time, ideas, and dedication helped shape what has become one of our most important nights of the year.

For 30 years, our community has come together to support adaptive sports through evenings like this. The Blue Party continues that tradition, bringing friends, supporters, and athletes together to celebrate and raise critical funds for TASP programs.

We hope you’ll join us this year and be part of the next chapter. Tickets are available now: https://tellurideadaptivesports.org/event/the-blue-party-celebrating-tasps-30th/

For 9 years, local athlete Justino has been part of the TASP family đź’™

“TASP and all the instructors have made me feel like family. I love how the instructors take part in my big imagination and encourage me to wear costumes and always make me feel loved and accepted. Throughout the years that I have been at TASP, it has been an experience I will never forget. I am forever grateful to have had such a wonderful experience and support group.”

An important member of the San Juan Special Olympics team, Justino brings that one-of-a-kind spirit to the mountain — and his little pug Hazel is often right there with him.

When he’s not on the mountain, his creativity and entrepreneurial acumen carries into his artwork, featured each year at the Blue Party. His pieces reflect the joy, color, and belonging that define our community.

Buy tickets to the Blue Party to see Justino’s artwork in person, celebrate athletes, and be part of the community!

P.S. In true Justino fashion… “Argggh Matey’s!!!”
