Sources of Strength

Sources of Strength Sources of Strength is an evidence-based su***de prevention and wellness program. Need to talk? Call or text 988.

Our strength-based approach promotes connection, resilience, and hope to prevent su***de, substance abuse, and bullying. Sources of Strength is a best practice youth su***de prevention project that utilizes the power of peer social networks to change unhealthy norms and culture and ultimately prevent su***de, bullying and substance abuse. The program is designed to prevent su***de by increasing help seeking behaviors and connections between peers and caring adults with a focus on Hope, Help and Strength. Sources of Strength takes a different approach in youth su***de prevention by moving beyond a singular focus on risk factors through building multiple sources of support around young individuals so that when times get hard they have strengths to rely on. Sources of Strength Secondary Program and Elementary Curriculum are both Su***de Prevention Resource Center Best Practices Registry Approved Programs.

Part 5 is all about how schools bring the Elementary Curriculum to life with flexible paths and real support.

Two rollout options: start small with a soft rollout (a few passionate staff lead) or go schoolwide with a full rollout.

Coach pathway: send 1–2 staff to our two-day Elementary Coaches Training. They return ready to facilitate, support peers, and embed lessons.

Ongoing support: National team support, reflection tools, and a staff wellness structure to make the work sustainable.

Built-in flexibility: purchase by site/grade, start with 1–2 grades, align with existing initiatives, and grow at your pace.

If you’re ready to shift culture with Strengths, and do it in a way that fits your community, we'd love to connect!

“We didn’t want to just teach growth mindset—we wanted to actualize it.”
That’s the heart of our latest post: how everyday practices help kids celebrate progress over perfection and how restorative practices bring students back to belonging. In real classrooms, that looks like simple, age-friendly tools that grow empathy, regulation, and connection.

Staff wellness & adult engagement is a vibrant piece of promoting cultures of wellbeing and connection in elementary schools. Our K–5 curriculum invites educators to learn alongside students, reflect with simple prompts, and gather in monthly small groups that build trust, belonging, and sustainable change.

When adults feel seen and supported, the whole school feels it.
