The Polk County Fire Rescue team received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Award for their commitment to saving lives. Organizations receive the award for administering excellent prehospital care to stroke, heart attack and cardiac arrest patients. Organizations that have sustained excellent service and met the necessary criteria multiple years in a row, receive the Gold Award.

In today’s survivor spotlight we celebrate Ella from Jefferson County! At just eight years old, she experienced cardiac arrest at school, but her life was heroically saved by her principal, Deb Rivera, who performed CPR. Today, as a junior at Bellarmine University majoring in communications and managing the men's Lacrosse team, Ella stands as a true testament to the power of hope and CPR.
