Mrs. Bernice Stroud Rohr, 82, widow of Charles Rohr, of Mullins, died Friday, January 23, 2026, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence following an extended period of declining health.
Bernice was born on May 13, 1943, in Marion County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late A.B. Stroud and the late Sallie Emanuel Stroud. She was a retired Hospice Care worker, who enjoyed gardening, flowers, talking on the phone and attending church. She was a member of Christian Faith Baptist Church.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Mark) Gore of Nichols, her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Turner and Stacy (Brandon) Stroud; her great grandchildren: Kaylee Bernice Strickland, Kylee Turner, Karlee Turner, Blakelynn Dozier, Kason Turner, Re*****on Ford, and Weslynn Stroud; her brother, Robert (Mary) Stroud of Ravenel, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
Bernice was predeceased by her two sons, Terry Lee Turner and Greg Turner; sister, Alice Juanita Stroud; and brother, Abron Jack Stroud.
A visitation will be held Monday evening, January 26, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Services will follow Tuesday, January 27, at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Reverend Dale Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Church Cemetery in Nichols, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

Johnny Ray Fowler, 65, of Conway, passed away during the afternoon of January 15, 2026, following an extended illness, while at Conway Medical Center in Conway.
Johnny Ray was born on October 5, 1960, in Columbus County, North Carolina. He was a son of the late Deary Fowler and the late Estalene Cartrette Fowler. He was a farm worker. Johnny Ray enjoyed piddling on things and would help his brother Garland work on cars.
Johnny is survived by his brothers and sisters: Garland Folwer, Jr. of Mullins, Charles Fowler of Whiteville, NC, Barbara Hinson of Mullins, Patsy Fowler of Conway, Jimmie Lou Vause of Elizabethtown, NC, and Deary, Jr. Fowler of Chadburn; along with several nieces and nephews.

Faye Rabon, born December 20, 1973, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 52, surrounded by her family, at her home in Nichols.
She lived life fully and was known for her love of living, her gentle heart, and her deep affection for horses and people. Faye had a strong work ethic and dedicated many years to serving others through her work at Magnolia’s, Ryan’s, Conway Mills, Side Wheelers, P*e Dee Lodge, Tom’s, Barnett Medical, and Carolina Care Medical Supply, where she formed many meaningful friendships.
She is survived by her beloved children, daughter Kenley Moore and son Daniel Lee (Ashley). Daughter of the late George Herman Rabon, she is also survived by her mother, Shirley Rabon; her brothers Kenny Rabon, George H. Rabon (Peter) (Christy), Larry Rabon (Stephanie), and Danny Rabon (Holly); and her sisters Sharon Rabon Fields (Morris), Linda Carroll (Jim), and Judy Rabon (Terry). Faye leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews: Matt (Teresa) and Sean; Brooke (Joseph); Dustin (Kayla); Macie Rein and Natalie; Nicholas (Amy); Taylor (Joshua); Jason; Brittany (Anthony); Danielle (Jason); Tom (Kayla); Anne (Brandon); and Bradley (Kristin), as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved dearly; and her precious animals : dog Blue, horse Jet and the cat.
She is also remembered fondly by her special friends, Clinard Moore and Rhea Moore, and Caroline at McLeod Hospital who held a meaningful place in her life.
Faye will be remembered for her kind spirit, her love for her family, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her family will hold a visitation, Monday, January 19, from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Faye’s funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 P.M., with the Reverend Benji Hutson officiating. Faye will then be laid to rest following the service in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mullins. Cox-Collins Funeral Home is assisting the family during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Building Fund, 535 Nichols Hwy S, Nichols, SC 29581.

Mary Elizabeth “Skeeter” Smith Lewis
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Skeeter” Smith Lewis, 81, widow of Gilbert Leroy Lewis, of Nichols, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, during the early morning of Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.
Skeeter, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to many fur babies, was born on August 17, 1944, in Marion County, South Carolina. She was one of six daughters to the late Henry Paul Smith and Lizzie Mae Gasque Smith. Skeeter grew up in and around the Marion and Horry communities, earning her education, making friends and eventually starting and raising her family here. She had worked as a textile worker until her retirement, where she then focused full-time on her leisurely activities. Skeeter loved being with people. Whether being with her daughter and son-in-law, sisters, co-workers or her church family, she cherished every second together. Her love of people led to her love of traveling as well, she made friends at every destination she ventured to. She especially enjoyed the beach get aways where she could get her toes sandy, color on her cheeks and delicious local seafood. When at home, Skeeter found enjoyment in sewing and rooting around in her gardens and flowerbeds. She was a member of Gapway Baptist Church, where she worshiped and kept her church family as close as her own family.
Skeeter is survived by her daughter, Kandis Chestnut and her husband, Keith, of Conway; her sisters: Pauline Brown of Mullins, Betty Martin and her husband, Hollis of Mullins, and Susan Martin and her husband, Skip, of Ridgeville; and she leaves behind many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, whom she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Morris, Bessie Graham, and a brother, Tommy Smith.
A graveside service for Mrs. Lewis will be held Friday, January 16, at 2:00 P.M. in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols, with the Reverend Will Jones and Reverend Stephen D. Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Mrs. Lewis’ home. Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins is assisting the family during this time.

Mr. Luther Lavern Gibson, 87, widower of the late Viola Stone Gibson, of Nichols, passed away following a brief illness in his sleep, while at his home in Nichols during the early morning of Thursday, January 8, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Lavern was born in Conway, SC on November 21, 1938, a son to the late Luther Gibson and the late Sally Mae Graham Gibson. Lavern, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was a hardworking, dedicated man, who put his family first and instilled values that have been passed down through the generations of the Gibson family. Lavern worked with Pilliod Furniture Manufacturing in Nichols for many years until he decided to retire.
Classic Country-Western Music held a special place in Lavern’s heart. The music of Waylon, Willie, and Johnny always soothed his soul every time they came on the radio. He was an absolute people person, never meeting a stranger and always enjoying the company of others. The more the better when it came to company, especially if he had all his grandchildren in the house with him. And when it came to sharing meals with family and friends, they said he could put away a mess or two of fish. They worried he would sprout gills and scales he loved to eat fish so much. But the one love above all others was the love Lavern had for his Lord, Jesus. He loved church, reading his Bible and sharing the love of the Lord with others, because it’s what godly men do.
Mr. Lavern is survived by his two daughters, Joann Muir of Nichols, and Priscilla Lewis and her husband, Jody, of Mullins; his four grandchildren: Timothy (Meagan) Johnson, Kendell Johnson, special granddaughter, Kasie Johnson, and Jody Derrick Lewis; six great grandchildren; special nephew, Ricky Gibson; special nieces, Barbara Carter and Shirley O’Conner; and several other nieces and nephews.
Lavern is predeceased by brothers, Noah Gibson, James Gibson, Gonzalee Gibson, Samuel “S.B” Gibson, and Luke Gibson, and two sisters, Beatrice Johnson and Corrine Strickland.
The family will hold a graveside service for Mr. Gibson on Monday, January 12, at 1:00 P.M. in Devotion Gardens Cemetery in Mullins, with the Reverend Haywood Proctor officiating and directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
The family will meet with attendees following the service there at the cemetery.

Mrs. Betty Ann Bridges Hylton, 81, widow of Alonzo R. Hylton, of Nichols, passed away following a brief illness at her residence during the afternoon of Wednesday, January 7, 2025.
Betty was born on February 17, 1944. in Washington, DC, a daughter to the late Sarah Wells Bridges. Mrs. Hylton Loving mother and grandmother, who spent a lifetime loving and caring for her family that meant the world to her. She was also a homemaker and caregiver, sharing love for others as well as keeping her home in tight running order.
Mrs. Hylton is survived by her children: Craig Lee Moore of Mt. Carmel, TN, Teresa L. Moore of Nichols, Tina L. Patterson of Springfield, OH, and Margaret A. Works of Trotwood, OH; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her sister, Sandra Pendrey of West Virginia.

Mrs. Rachel Linda Watson Driggers, 73, widow of James W. “J.W.” Driggers, of Marion, passed away following an extended illness, during the afternoon of January 4, 2026, while at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.
Rachel was born in Mullins, South Carolina on August 21, 1952, a daughter of the late Evan Fulton Watson and the late Venta Lee Lewis Watson. Rachel, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, worked as a cashier with Walmart Supercenter in Marion. Rachel enjoyed seeing her regulars and making friends with customers as they came through her lane on a daily and weekly basis. Outside of work Rachel loved spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to cook for people; this was one of her love languages. Sharing family recipes and her favorite dishes with people that she loved and cared about. She was deeply religious and loved going to church. She especially loved sharing her voice and singing in the congregation. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Rachel is survived by loving daughter, Sheila Whitmarsh and her husband, Mark, of Mullins; her precious grandchildren: Ashlee Gore and Brandon Hooks; her great grandbabies: Rylee Lester, Preslee Lester, Christopher Lester and Ashton Lester; her sister, Linda Darnell Gerrald and her husband, Freddy; her brothers: Franklin Watson and his wife, Dorothy, and Tony Watson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Rachel was predeceased by a brother, Billy Watson and a sister, Gloria Vernon.
The family of Rachel will receive friends Thursday evening, January 8, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.
A funeral service for Ms. Rachel will be held Friday, January 9, at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Reverend Glenn Brown officiating. The family will lay Ms. Rachel to rest in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the service, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Josie Elaine Collins Davis, 51, of Mullins, gained her new body during the afternoon of January 1, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer at Conway Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Josie, a loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, was born on January 7, 1974, in Mullins, South Carolina, and a daughter to Ronald Collins and Loretta Fowler Collins. Josie loved her family, she took every opportunity she could to spoil them, especially her two grandsons, Noah and Hunter. From cooking homecooked meals, to holidays, to special trips the family would take together. She went above and beyond for her loved ones. Josie enjoyed many things from coloring and watching Hallmark movies to cheering on the Atlanta Braves and her beloved University of South Carolina Gamecocks. Josie was so diehard, garnet and black, that she would absolutely take offense to anything orange. Josie always had a smile for everyone. A smile that would brighten your day, and she shared this with everyone she met. Josie was a member of Center Christ Church, where she was devoted and loved her church family as much as her own family.
Josie is survived by her daughter, Sarah Simpson and her husband, Ryan “Julio”, of Mullins, her cherished grandsons, Noah and Hunter Simpson of Mullins, her sister, Carla Davis (John) of Eugene, Oregon, nephew, Donovan Hardee and his fiancé, Kayla, of Mullins, her niece, Bailey Hardee of Eugene, OR; great nephew, Declan Hardee; her special work family: Ronnie and Angie Walker, Betty Seay, and Melissa Kwiatkowski; her Center Christ Church Family; and her fur baby, Princess.
Josie was predeceased by her son, Eli.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon, January 6, from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall of Center Christ Church, (3257 Center Church Rd, Mullins).
A funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 P.M., with the Reverend Grady Corder officiating. The family will lay Josie to rest in the church cemetery following the service. Cox-Collins Funeral Home is assisting the family during this difficult time.

Mrs. Pauline Jackson Thomas, 92, of, widow of Akie Gustavius Thomas, of Mullins, passed away peacefully at her residence in the Palms at Florence, on December 30, 2025.
Pauline was born in Brittons Neck, South Carolina on January 9, 1933, a daughter of the late King Jackson and the late Nancy Jernigan Jackson. She was a graduate of Brittons Neck High School and was a retired Textile Worker and homemaker. She loved watching television and loved going to church. She was a member of the Mullins First Baptist Church.
Pauline is survived by her two sisters, Annie Funk of Greenville, SC, Jeanwood Jackson Griffin of Effingham, SC, her brother, Linwood Jackson and his wife, Carolyn, of Myrtle Beach, and a very special friend, Betty Ray of Mullins.
Pauline was predeceased by her five brothers, Clarence Jackson, Hubert Jackson, Douglas Jackson, William Jackson, and Norwood Jackson, and her stepson, Andrew Thomas.
A graveside service for Mrs. Thomas will be held on Saturday, January 3, at 2:00 P.M. at Cedardale Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Rometa Anne Collins Hunt, 65, of Mullins went to be with her Lord during the late afternoon of Friday, December 26, 2025, following an extended illness at MUSC Health Marion Medical Center in Mullins.
Anne, as she was known, was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina on October 31, 1960, a daughter to the late Lamar Collins and Marion Love Collins Tyler. Anne has worked as a waitress. She was loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She loved working in her yard and doing all sorts of crafts.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Leslie Anne Hunt of Mullins; her grandson, Shane Richardson of Mullins; her life partner, Charles Turner; her great grandchildren: Greyson Richardson, Hunter Richardson, and William Richardson; her brothers and sisters: Irene (Joe) Tyler, Doris (James) Hudson, Junior Collins, and Boyd (Barbara) Collins; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Frances Collins, Margaret Foxworth, Ruth Ellen Lane, and Mary Ellen “Tiny” Holden.

Mrs. Ottie Lou Blanton Hooks, 72, widow of Douglas Wayne Hooks, of Mullins, SC, passed away following a brief illness, at Bethea Baptist Retirement Community, on Friday, December 26, 2025.
Ottie was born October 22, 1953, in Horry County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Samuel David Blanton and the late Beulah Phillips Blanton. Ottie enjoyed a very successful and well-suited career in the banking industry. She, along with her husband Douglas, shared their kindheartedness through ministry. Throughout the years they served faithfully at Pyerian Baptist Church and Union Baptist Church. She was currently attending Bethea Baptist Church at her residence. Ottie also was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary. She loved her family, her church families, and friends.
She is survived by her cousin and caregiver, Billy Phillips and family. She is also survived by a host of cousins, family members, and dear friends whom she greatly loved.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 29, at 2:00 P.M. in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, (1950 Mt. Olive Church Rd., Nichols,SC 29581) with Reverend Chris Williams and Reverend Jeff Cockrell officiating, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and attendees following the service at the graveside.
The family extends a very special “thank you,” to Brian Barbour and the Staff of Bethea Retirement Community, for their love and care for Ottie.
