The family of Milton Laverne Collins (4/14/1958-5/5/2025), will hold memorial service on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, in remembrance and celebration of Milton’s life.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel followed by his service at 3:00 P.M., with Pastor Benjie Hutson officiating.
Mr. Collins will be interred following the chapel service in a private family committal at Red Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mary Ellen Allen Wise
Mary Ellen Allen Wise, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on November 21, 2025. Born on May 17, 1932, in Aynor, South Carolina, she entered the world in the home of her late parents, Luther Enoch and Annie Viola Smith Allen, and spent her life filling the lives of others with warmth, beauty, and unwavering love.
She is survived by her sons, Gerald (Evita) Wise of Marion, SC, and Anthony Wise of Myrtle Beach; her beloved grandchildren: Stacy, Crystal, Blakely (Ryan), and Benton (Phoebe); and her great grandchildren: Anniston and Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, her firstborn son Clinton Wise, Jr., and her siblings and in-laws Colin (Vienna) Hucks, Claude (Kathleen) Woodle, Hoyt L. (Beatrice) Hamilton, Avery (Doretha) Hinson, E. Nathan (Mildred Holmes Allen Prince) Allen, Luther Enoch (Ora Mae Johnson) Allen, Jr., and Lynn (Bernice McCrackin) Allen.
Mary Ellen raised her children in Marion, SC, and after retiring From Marion School District 1, returned to her native Horry County. A woman of steadfast faith, she was a member of Marion Baptist Church for more than forty years, where she taught Sunday School for over two decades before returning her membership to Salem Baptist Church. She was also a proud member of the Marion Order of the Eastern Star.
A lifelong educator, Mary Ellen touched the lives of students, many who continued to stay in touch with her long after their school days ended. Her influence stretched far beyond the classroom; she taught lessons of grace, diligence, and kindness simply by the way she lived.
To her family, though, she was so much more. Her yard and kitchen were her laboratories, and love was always her main ingredient. For more than 70 years, she transformed ordinary days into celebrations. Every Sunday felt like Thanksgiving, complete with cherished family recipes, puddings, pound cakes, and desserts that made everyone feel at home. Whether you were family or simply fortunate enough to sit at her table, you were welcomed with the warmth of true Southern hospitality.
She had an unmatched eye for beauty—whether nurturing a perfectly manicured lawn, setting a table worthy of a magazine, or cultivating relationships with the care of a seasoned gardener. She proved that beautiful things grow with time, patience, and devotion. Her fashion sense, quiet strength, twinkling eyes, and ever-present smile, with that special giggle, made her unforgettable. Tiny in stature but mighty in spirit, she lived life on her own terms: confident, loving, honest, and full of grace.
Her legacy is etched in the hearts of those she loved, taught, fed, and inspired. She will be deeply missed.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, November 23, at 2:00 P.M. at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, 4008 Salem Rd., Aynor, SC 29511.

Mr. Jimmy W. Odom, 86, widower of the late Lucille Odom, of Marion, passed away following a brief illness at his residence on November 18, 2025, in Marion.
Jimmy was the son of the late Hagood C. Odom and the late Leona Capps Odom. He was born on September 25, 1939, in Marion County. Jimmy is a graduate of Marion High School and attended Newberry College. Mr. Odom served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following the service Jimmy was gainfully employed with the city of Augusta, Georgia, where he retired following years of service as a Purchasing Agent for the city. Jimmy was a member of Tranquil Community Church, where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class.
Surviving Jimmy are his two nieces: Jonna Odom and Judy Wesley; and his nephew, Paul Odom.
Mr. Odom was predeceased by his parents, Hagood and Leona, his sister, Hazel O. Wesley, brother, Johnny F. Odom and a nephew, Randy D. Wesley.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning, November 22, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. in the Fellowship Hall of Tranquil Community Church.
Mr. Odom’s graveside will follow there in the Church cemetery at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Grady Corder presiding, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.

Mrs. Janie Ammons Brown, 80, wife of Lewis Brown, of Mullins, joined the Heavenly Choir with her new body during the evening of Saturday, November 1, 2025, at her home in Mullins, surrounded by her loving family, following an extended period of declining health.
Ms. Janie was born on February 8th, 1945, in Horry County, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Gladys Ammons. Mrs. Brown met Lewis Brown, married and raised a family together. She was a homemaker and Farmer’s wife. She made sure everything was in order for her house and her family and loved and nurtured them throughout the years. Mrs. Brown also worked for a bit with Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Fork, where after several years, retired with the company. Ms. Janie loved to cook, she had hundreds of recipes memorized and never let you leave her house hungry. She also loved to play games, whether at family gatherings, with her grandchildren or at church functions, Janie loved a good game, it gave her a chance to unleash her competitive side. Janie also was a devote Christian woman who loved her Lord and her Bible. She was a member of Mullins Church of God.
Surviving Mrs. Brown in addition to her husband of the home, Lewis Brown of Mullins, are her children: Dwayne Brown and his wife, Lori, of Mullins, Glenda Watson and her husband, Ken, of Myrtle Beach, and Kevin D. Brown of Mullins; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Neta Byrd of Latta, a brother, Dale Caulder of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Lee Brown, grandson, Dawson Brown, and brother, Lewis Ammons.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, November 4th, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home in Mullins.
Mrs. Brown’s funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 5th, at 2:00 P.M., at the Mullins Church of God, with the Reverend Jerry Causey officiating. The family will lay Mrs. Brown to rest in Brown Family Cemetery, on Bluff Road, following the service. Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins is assisting the family during this time.

Mr. David Owens, 67, of Marion, went to be with his Lord during the afternoon of Friday, October 31st, 2025, while at Senior Care of Marion, under the care of Agape Hospice, following a period of declining health.
David was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on April 21st, 1958, and the son of the late Daniel Owens, Sr. and the late Rosa Lee Darmon Owens Williams. David was self-employed, and would do little jobs here and there, handyman style to help people out now and then. He was of the Christian Faith.
Surviving David is his son, Donald Owens; a brother, Daniel Owens, Jr, of Marion; his sisters: Doris Ann Bryant of Florence, Rachel (Mark) Snyder of Myrtle Beach and Marie Ihus of Fayetteville, NC.
David was predeceased by his siblings Ronnie Owens, Janis McLellan, Patricia Ann Owens and Don Owens.
The family will hold a graveside service for David on Monday, November 3rd, at 1:00 P.M. in Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Temperance Hill, SC, with Chaplain Pastor Donnie Kirby leading the service, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.
The family will speak with friends for a few minutes following the conclusion of the service there at the cemetery.

Mrs. Madgie Sue Dell Hammond Hayes, 84, widow of Stacy Charles Hayes, of Loris, passed away following an extended illness, at her home, with her loving family by her side during the evening of Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Mrs. Hayes, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, was born on August 22, 1941, in Horry County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Thomas H. Hammond and the late Evia Small Hammond. She retired as a furniture manufacturer after 20 plus years with Pilliod Furniture, where she was a dedicated worker, working hard every day, and providing for her family. She was also a loving mother and grandmother who took care of her home front, making delicious meals and spoiling her loved ones with cherished moments they will always remember. She loved to ride, if you were going somewhere, she was always there to tag along, it did not matter where, she loved to go. She was loved and will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by her children: her daughter, Sarah Hayes Boyd and her husband, Carroll, of Loris, and her son, Stacy Mitchell Hayes of Mullins; her grandson, Holden Evander (Elizabeth) Bullock, and Elizabeth’s daughter, Harper, of Loris; her sister, Geneva (Dean) Fowler of Loris; her nieces, Lisa and Charlotte; step-grandson, Elliott (Allyson) Boyd and their children, Sarah, Willow, and Martha May; along with several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hayes was predeceased by her three brothers, S.W. Hammond, Lonnie Hammond, and Tommy Hammond.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 2, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.
Mrs. Hayes’ funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the Funeral Chapel of Cox-Collins, with the Reverend Lloyd Williamson officiating.
Mrs. Hayes will be laid to rest next to her husband in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, following the service.

Mrs. Doris Causey Britt, 71, of Conway, passed away following an extended illness, at her home, surrounded by her family, during the evening of Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
Mrs. Britt was born in Loris, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Leo Causey and the late Annie Bell Small Causey, on August 20, 1954. Ms. Doris, a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, retired from Conway Medical Center following several years of dedicated service. She loved shopping, gardening, and the Smokey Mountains. But first and foremost, Mrs. Britt loved her family. She loved them very deeply with her big heart and made sure they knew it every day. This love will live forever in their hearts.
Surviving Mrs. Britt is her loving daughter, Crystal Graham and her husband, Les, of Galivants Ferry; her precious grandsons: Lucas Damian Graham and Preston Lee Graham; a nephew whom she considered as her grandson, Dusty Lee (Molly) Jones; her siblings: Cathy Watson of North Port, FL and Paul (Melissa) Causey of Conway.
Doris was predeceased by her former husband, Buddy Britt.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Mrs. Britt on November 9, 2025, at 4:00 P.M. at Mrs. Britt’s home, at 5297 Highway 65 in Conway.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the exceptional care they provided for Mrs. Britt, along with her nurse, Paige, for her care and compassion she showed Ms. Doris.

Lomeria Herring Hickman
Mrs. Lomeria Herring Hickman, a faithful and devoted wife and mother, passed away on October 28th at home at the age of 94 after suffering from an illness. She was surrounded by many loved ones at her time of passing.
Ms. Lomeria was born on May 26th, 1931, to Alton and Georgia Mae McDaniels. She was married to the late Liston Herring of Mullins and the late David Hickman of Coward. Lomeria was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Herman McDaniel, Mamie Phillips, Vernon McDaniel, Margie Sawyer, Clara Turner, Edna Haselden, Benjamin McDaniel, and Eunice Herrington.
Ms. Lomeria is survived by her four girls: Linda (James) Huggins, Margaret (Mack) Dozier, Marie (David) Poss, and Angela (Bucky) Bethea; and ten grandchildren: Richard (Cynde) Sawyer, Vicky (Kelly) Larrimore, Tina Floyd, Steven McLellan, Cheryl (Chris) Hudson, Tammy King, Michael McLellan, Allen Brown, Shawn (Donna) Brown, and Wesley Huggins (Ashley Suggs).
Ms. Lomeria was a member of Refuge MPTA church and an avid gardener and traveler. She is best known for her love of God and family. She leaves behind these words:
“When I depart this life, remember I have lived a good life. Some good and some not so good, but it always was a blessing. 4 beautiful girls, 10 special grands, all my great grands and 11 great great grands. Praise the Lord. God is so good!!! I love each and every one. Please meet me in Heaven. It’s going to be a beautiful place.”
Graveside services to be held on Friday, October 31st, 11 a.m. at Red Hill Cemetery, Mullins, SC. Officiating the ceremony, eldest grandson, Richard A. Sawyer, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
