⭐ Employee Spotlight | Logan Hood ⭐
Logan Hood is an adventurer at heart. Her favorite things include “hiking, road trips, swimming under waterfalls, and dangling off cliffs,” in her words. She also loves chasing the Northern Lights with her four children: together, they’ve seen them five different times! Her personal mission is “to be the best me that I can be,” and it propels her to live life to the fullest.
This motto also extends to Logan’s work at Open Door Health Services, where she serves as the Director of Revenue Cycle in the Finance Department. While less physically rigorous, it is no less challenging to manage the organization’s finances while also working with patients to make sure money is not a barrier to receiving care.
“I started my career in accounting and finance at the Youth Opportunity Center and moved to Open Door in 2022. Both organizations are committed to making their services accessible to everyone regardless of income, and that is really important to me,” said Logan. “Open Door does not turn anyone away, regardless of income or insurance. I love that I get to wear my heart on my sleeve and always keep the patients’ needs in mind when we make financial decisions.”
Half of Logan’s staff work primarily behind-the-scenes. She also oversees Open Door’s patient services representatives (PSRs) who welcome every Open Door patient and check them in for their appointments. They also help to explain Open Door’s payment options, including the sliding fee scale and flexible payment plans.
“The cost of healthcare can feel overwhelming, and we want to make sure patients know we are here to help,” Logan said. If patients don’t have insurance, they can be referred to Open Door’s certified Indiana Navigators to learn about available plans like Hoosier Healthwise, Healthy Indiana Plan, Medicare, and the Health Insurance Marketplace.
To Logan, the best days at work are when she’s able to help resolve issues for patients or her team members. “I really want people to feel safe, heard, and respected when they are working with me. Then, we can work together to overcome hurdles and make progress. It’s very rewarding when I know I’ve contributed to Open Door’s mission to create a better life and future for others and ourselves.”
