UPDATE: Authorities have notified Community Hospital that the gas leak, which is located along Fisher Street and Calumet Avenue, will be under repair for approximately nine hours.
Calumet Avenue from Fisher Street to Fran Lin, will remain closed at this time. Community Hospital will continue to take every precaution to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and staff. Please try to avoid the area or follow detours along Columbia Avenue until further notice. We will provide updates as soon as they become available.

NIPSCO has sent notification of a leaking gas line along Fisher Street and Calumet Avenue near the NORTHWEST parking lot of Community Hospital and have taken emergency precautions to isolate the area. Calumet Avenue is closed between Fisher Street and Fran Lin Parkway, and traffic is being diverted to Columbia Avenue. Nipsco is actively working to locate the exact source of the leak and begin repairs. Community Hospital is prepared and taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and staff. Please try to avoid the area or follow detours along Columbia Avenue until further notice.

UPDATE: NIPSCO is continuing the process of repairs to the gas line. A portion of Fisher Street will remain closed, but both north entrances to Community Hospital's parking lot are open.

UPDATE: Authorities have notified Community Hospital that the gas leak, which was located along Fisher Street along the north side of the hospital, is under repair. Fisher street will remain closed at this time.

Officials from the Town of Munster were notified of a leaking gas line along Fisher Street, near the NORTH SIDE of Community Hospital, and have taken emergency precautions to isolate the area. They are actively working to locate the exact source of the leak and begin repairs. Community Hospital is prepared and taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors, and staff.
