Last week Journeys board members, Janet Bowman, Robert Coggin, and Michael Busey, along with Journeys executive staff Frances Cook, Felicia Martinez and Mike Pinkston attended The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce Capitol Connection. We heard from and talked with our Rutherford County legislative delegation on state bills, the budget and issues that affect our community.

Meet Agency Case Manager, Sherry Lane.

Sherry began her role as Agency Case Manager at Journeys in 2015. She received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice degree from the Daymar Institute in 2012.

Sherry feels an important aspect of her job is ensuring access to resources for those she supports, including health care, housing, and financial assistance.

We continue with our series highlighting the services we offer at Journeys In Community Living and what they mean for the individuals we support.

MAPs is a three-year program that embraces the use of enabling technologies to support independence at home, work, and in the community. It is available to anyone with intellectual and developmental disabilities who has graduated high school or will graduate within three years.

Social Work Month was first celebrated in March 1963 to build public support for the profession. It has become an event celebrated by hundreds of thousands of social workers – and their supporters – each year.

This year’s theme is “Social Work: Uplift. Defend. Transform”, highlighting the profession's role in enhancing well-being, meeting needs, and empowering vulnerable populations.
