Foot pain doesn’t always start with the feet.

Sometimes it’s the body’s way of signaling something deeper such as circulation concerns, nerve issues, or inflammatory conditions.

Many patients assume symptoms will pass with rest or home remedies, but when pain persists, spreads, or includes numbness or swelling, it may be time to look closer.

In our newest blog, we explain when foot pain may be more than a localized problem and why early evaluation can make a big difference.

If you know someone dealing with ongoing foot discomfort, feel free to share this with them.

Not sure if your shoes are helping your feet… or hurting them? 👟

One of Dr. Neuhaus’ patients recently brought six different pairs of shoes to her appointment and asked him to evaluate each one to see if they could be contributing to her foot pain. In this video, Dr. Neuhaus walks through each pair and shares what he looks for when evaluating footwear—from support and cushioning to stability and fit.

The right shoes can make a big difference when it comes to foot pain, plantar fasciitis, bunions, and other common foot conditions.

Watch the video to see what he thought about each pair.

Yes - Vionic makes men’s shoes too.

Dr. Neuhaus breaks down why supportive footwear matters for men just as much as women.

If you’re on your feet all day, dealing with heel pain, arch pain, or chronic foot discomfort, proper structure and alignment aren’t optional - they’re preventative.

Supportive doesn’t mean bulky. It means biomechanically sound.

Swelling in your legs or feet? Compression socks might help more than you think.

In this video, Dr. Hurless explains what compression socks are and why some people benefit from wearing them. These specialized socks apply gentle pressure to the legs to help improve circulation and reduce swelling in the feet and ankles.

They’re often recommended for people who:
• Stand or sit for long periods
• Experience leg or foot swelling
• Have circulation issues
• Travel frequently
• Are managing certain medical conditions

Watch the video to learn how compression socks work and when they might be a good option for you.

Spring running season is here - and so are overuse injuries.

As the weather warms up across Middle Tennessee, we see a spike in:
✔️ Plantar fasciitis
✔️ Achilles tendonitis
✔️ Stress fractures
✔️ Shin splints
✔️ Ankle sprains

Suddenly increasing mileage, switching shoes, or jumping back into training too quickly can put extra strain on your feet and ankles.

If you’re training for a 5K, half marathon, or just enjoying the greenways, make sure your feet are ready.

Pain is not a normal part of training.

Vinegar soaks. Essential oils. Duct tape fixes. Epsom salt baths. We’ve seen them all.

Some home remedies can provide temporary comfort. But most don’t address the root cause especially when it comes to fungal infections, warts, or persistent foot pain.

The bigger issue? Many common foot conditions look similar early on, but require very different treatment approaches.

In our newest blog, we break down what actually works and when it’s time to stop DIY care and seek professional care instead.

If someone you know has been managing symptoms at home without improvement, share this with them.

You’d be surprised what podiatrists find in the exam room… 👀

In this video, Dr. Benac shares one of the weirdest things he’s ever pulled out of a patient’s foot. It’s a reminder that even small injuries or something stuck in your foot can turn into a much bigger problem if it’s not treated properly.

If you have foot pain, a puncture wound, or something that just doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it. Getting it checked early can prevent infection and bigger complications.

POV: You try to ignore your foot pain…
But Dr. Neuhaus shows up as two different characters to explain what’s really going on. 😆

Extra weight increases pressure on your feet with every single step. That pressure adds up - fast.

If you’re dealing with:
• Heel pain
• Arch pain
• Ankle pain
• Joint stiffness

It may not just be “getting older.” It could be mechanics.

It’s March Madness… but your ankles shouldn’t be.

Ankle sprains are one of the most common basketball injuries — especially with quick cuts, pivots, and sudden stops.

If you’re dealing with:
🏀 Swelling
🏀 Bruising
🏀 Instability
🏀 Pain when bearing weight

Don’t try to “play through it.”

A mild sprain treated properly heals much faster than one ignored.

If your ankle didn’t make it through bracket season, we’re here to help.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀

When it comes to your feet, healthy habits matter more than luck.

Many foot and ankle problems develop gradually from small daily routines such as worn-out shoes, tight muscles, or ignoring early discomfort.

A few “lucky” habits for your feet:
🍀 Wearing supportive shoes when you’re on your feet all day
🍀 Replacing shoes once the cushioning and tread wear down
🍀 Stretching your calves and feet regularly
🍀 Paying attention to early signs of foot pain

Some “unlucky” habits we see all the time:
❌ Keeping the same sneakers long after they’ve lost support
❌ Jumping into activity with tight calves or feet
❌ Ignoring small changes like soreness, blisters, or swelling

Over time, those habits can increase the risk of problems like heel pain, plantar fasciitis, and other foot injuries.

What’s the longest you’ve kept a pair of sneakers before replacing them? Months? Years? Be honest 👀

If you’re dealing with foot or ankle pain, the team at Neuhaus Foot & Ankle is here to help. Check out the link in the comments to get started today.

The hardest part for runners? Knowing when to stop.

Dr. Keeter breaks down the difference between soreness and injury.

Muscle soreness that improves as you warm up? Usually normal.
Sharp pain, limping, or pain that gets worse mile after mile? That’s your body asking for a break.

Stopping early can mean weeks saved in recovery.

If your run ends with pain instead of progress, let’s figure out why.
