Just a couple of comments specifically for people that are having persistent back or neck pain... this kind of pain can be difficult to solve because there are so many different medical opinions of the causes and treatments. In my office we often see patients that have received only vague diagnosis or are told something like "Well, you are getting older," or "You have arthritis, there is nothing to do but take more pills."

Here's some encouraging, factual information: Most people with this kind of pain can be helped... without surgery and without more drugs. It is often possible to eliminate the pain.

📍Don't make the mistake of ignoring back problems or masking pain with pills. For persistent back (or neck) pain, especially when accompanied by symptoms such as numbness, tingling, or pain into the arms or legs, call to request an evaluation.

Spinal problems are always serious. Proper non-surgical treatment can usually prevent surgery. But, don't wait too late!

Q. My doctor said my bladder incontinence is related to a bulging spinal disc in my lower back. But I don't have back pain anymore.
A. Yes, a bulging or damaged spinal disc can cause BLADDER and BOWEL issues such as urgency, poor control, and more. Problems including sexual dysfunction and erectile dysfunction have been linked to spinal disc problems.

Your spinal nerves control almost every part of your body, including the bladder, bowel, sexual organs and more. Spinal conditions that irritate, pinch, compress, or otherwise damage the sensitive spinal nerves can cause a problem in the organs those nerves control. (Research references in comments.)

Likewise, treatments that effectively reduce the damaging PRESSURE on the nerves may alleviate symptoms related to that pressure.

In cases such as this, a patient may or may not have back pain.
