🌟 Exciting Update! 🌟

Hello everyone! A few months ago, I shared the news that I was opening my private counseling practice here in Murfreesboro — and I’m so grateful for the incredible support I’ve received from the community.

I’m happy to announce that I am now accepting insurance!
At this time, I’m in-network with Cigna and Carelon, and I expect to be accepting Aetna, Ascension, and BlueCross BlueShield very soon.

Many of you reached out looking for therapy options for yourselves or your children, and I’m glad to now be able to serve more families through insurance coverage.

If you’d like to schedule an appointment or learn more, please feel free to message me directly or visit my website.
Thank you all again for your continued support! 💙

Mental Health Reminder

It’s okay to rest.
It’s okay to ask for help.
It’s okay to not have everything figured out.

Healing isn’t about being perfect—it’s about learning to give yourself grace, one step at a time.

Take a deep breath today and remind yourself: I am doing the best I can, and that is enough.

Childhood Trauma Doesn’t Just Stay in Childhood

The wounds we carry from childhood don’t disappear with age—they grow with us.
Unmet needs, painful experiences, or environments where we didn’t feel safe can follow us into adulthood, showing up as anxiety, depression, difficulty in relationships, or a harsh inner critic.

But here’s the hopeful truth: healing is possible.
Fixing what feels “broken” isn’t about erasing the past—it’s about learning new ways to nurture yourself now. Therapy, safe relationships, mindfulness, and self-compassion can help rewrite the story and build a healthier future.

You are not defined by what happened to you. You can create who you want to become.

Self-esteem isn’t built overnight—it’s rebuilt in the small choices we make each day.

Start with kindness toward yourself. Challenge the negative voice that says you’re “not enough.” Celebrate the small wins, even the ones that feel ordinary.

Rebuilding self-esteem is less about perfection and more about patience. Step by step, you can learn to see yourself with the same compassion you give to others.

You are worthy. You are enough. And it’s never too late to believe it.

How Trauma Affects the Brain

Trauma doesn’t just live in our memories — it changes how our brain functions.

🔸 Amygdala (Fear Center): Becomes overactive, leading to heightened fear responses, hypervigilance, and difficulty calming down.

🔸 Hippocampus (Memory & Learning): Trauma can shrink this area, disrupting memory formation and making it harder to distinguish between past and present danger.

🔸 Prefrontal Cortex (Thinking & Regulation): Trauma weakens this region, reducing impulse control, problem-solving, and the ability to regulate emotions.

When these systems are out of balance, the brain remains in a survival mode long after the threat has passed.
