We're proud to announce that, for the eighth year straight, Children’s Hospital at Erlanger has received a Level I trauma redesignation for Pediatric Trauma with the State of Alabama. We've provided pediatric trauma care in the region for nearly 50 years and have had a designated pediatric trauma center in Alabama since 2018.

Throughout the redesignation process, surveyors praised Children’s Hospital at Erlanger care for pediatric trauma patients, highlighting our Pink Shirt and ECMO programs and our exceptional emergency and PICU staff.

Learn more about what this redesignation means for our Alabama patients, and what pediatric trauma care looks like throughout the health system.

Go Red for Women is more than style (although we do look good in red!).

Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in women, and it doesn't always look the same as it does in men. That's why it's important to know the signs:

❣️ Shortness of breath
❣️ Nausea or lightheadedness
❣️Jaw, neck, back, or shoulder pain
❣️Extreme fatigue
❣️Chest discomfort (not always a sharp pain)

So today we wore red—drop pictures of your best red fits in the comments below 🙌 Let's keep the conversation going!

02/02/2026

February is American Heart Month! And this Friday is National Wear Red Day, a day to support women’s cardiovascular health by wearing red, sharing information and resources, and donating to support research and education.

Join us in sporting your best red garments this Friday, February 6. ❤️❤️❤️

With snowy and icy conditions expected this weekend, we wanted to share a few safety tips to help you prevent injuries.

🚗 Driving Tips
Only drive if necessary.
❄Drive slowly: adjust your speed down to account for lower traction when driving on snow or ice.
❄Accelerate and decelerate slowly: it takes longer to slow down on icy roads.
❄If traffic signal is not working, treat it as a four-way stop.
❄Beware of black ice, especially on bridges, overpasses, and shady areas.
❄ Keep a blanket, water, flashlight, and non-perishable food in your car just in case you get stuck. Bonus points for portable chargers.

👟 Walking/Shoe Tips
❄Don’t walk with your hands in your pockets: leave your hands and arms free for balance.
❄Wear proper shoes to reduce risk of slips and falls: good sole traction helps prevent slipping on wet or icy surfaces, and ankle support helps prevent breaks and sprains.
❄Stick to sidewalks: don’t take shortcuts or less traveled paths.
❄Shuffle your feet or take short steps in icy areas.Walk like a penguin: knees slightly bent, feet pointed slightly out.

We wish everyone a safe weekend! Watch our social media for facility updates. 🤍
