In-home Hospice Volunteer Needs - Help Hospice Patients feel Cared For!
Superior Home Care and Hospice is looking for more volunteers. If you have one hour a week to spare, please consider joining our team!
Hospice volunteers provide companionship and emotional support to terminally ill and palliative patients. The primary goal of a hospice volunteer is to provide empathy and companionship to both the patient and their loved ones during difficult times. The duties of a volunteer vary depending on the needs of the person they are caring for. Some things our volunteers can do include:
Visit patients and engage in active listening
Provide companionship
Play music/instruments in the patient's home
Participate in art projects or games
Look through photos
Be supportive and caring!
We serve veterans across the Salt Lake Valley. After at-home mandatory hospice training, we will pair you with an individual in hospice care, and help facilitate one visit either weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Even short visits can make a huge impact! We also have availability in-office for bereavement care and sending out mailings. We are looking to expand our volunteer team. We are extremely flexible and want to encourage anyone interested in volunteering with us to apply! Volunteer responsibilities include: Driving to and from patient's homes, providing companionship care and life review. Need valid drivers license and to be 18 or older. Volunteers will go through hospice training and visit end of life patients who cannot leave their homes, and offer a mix of communication, music, art, life review, and respite. Times vary depending on your schedule and the patient's schedule.
