There’s no doubt that we’re living in extreme times.

Social media feeds are filled with intense, highly distressing news. These events have rightly sparked public outrage, protests, and a broader sense of tension permeating many facets of everyday life.

Staying connected and aware of current events is important, no matter where you fall on the political spectrum, but non-stop notifications, endless updates, and constantly changing social media feeds can quickly become overwhelming.

The impact of social media on mental health can’t be ignored. Staying informed while protecting your mental health is a delicate balance, and what works for someone else might not work as well for you.

In our new blog, we offer some practical tips you can implement today to set digital boundaries with the platforms and people you engage with online, so you can stay connected without burning out.

Feeling low motivation or drained in the winter doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.

Seasonal changes can impact energy, focus, and mood, and finding balance often means pairing gentle action with self-compassion. Adjust your expectations, pay attention to what actually supports your energy, soak up daylight when you can, stay connected to others, and make room for joy, even in small ways.

Winter isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about listening to your needs and caring for yourself differently.

When cancer enters someone’s life, the impact reaches far beyond the medical experience.

Therapy can be a supportive space for people navigating a cancer diagnosis, those in treatment or survivorship, and loved ones walking alongside someone they care about. Whether you’re coping with fear, grief, anger, uncertainty, caregiver stress, or the emotional aftermath of it all, you don’t have to carry it alone.

There is no “right” way to feel when cancer touches your life. Support can help you process what you’re facing, find steadiness in the uncertainty, and care for your mental health through every stage of the journey.

You can be both grateful and struggling.

Gratitude doesn’t erase pain, and struggle doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful. Life is complex, and it’s possible to hold appreciation for some parts of your life while still facing challenges in others.

Allow yourself to sit with both realities. Acknowledging what is difficult doesn’t take away from the moments of light. And noticing the good doesn’t minimize your struggles. Both can exist, and both deserve your attention.

💬 What’s one thing you’re grateful for today, even amidst the challenges?

If winter has been leaving you feeling low on energy or motivation, you’re not alone. Shorter days, less sunlight, and slower rhythms can take a real toll on both mood and focus.

Supporting yourself this season often means finding a balance between gentle structure and self-compassion. Adjusting expectations, following what actually supports your energy, staying connected, and making space for light and joy can help winter feel more manageable.

February may be the month of love, but it’s also the month of heart.

It’s American Heart Month, a reminder that caring for your heart includes caring for your mental health, too. ❤️

Stress, anxiety, and chronic overwhelm don’t just affect how we feel emotionally. Over time, they can impact blood pressure, heart rate, sleep, and overall cardiovascular health. Supporting your mental well-being through mindfulness, stress management, and therapy is one meaningful way to support your heart as well.

This month, consider small moments of slowing down, breathing deeply, and checking in with yourself. Your heart and mind are deeply connected, and both deserve care.

Caring for mothers means caring for both physical and mental health.

Pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood can bring joy, but they can also bring exhaustion, anxiety, guilt, grief, and unexpected emotional challenges. Every maternal experience is different, and all of them deserve understanding, compassion, and support.

At WPA Therapy, we believe mothers should never have to navigate these experiences alone. Support is not a luxury — it’s essential. If you’re struggling, reaching out can be a powerful step toward healing.

Your feelings are real, even if someone else doesn’t understand them.

Emotions are yours. They reflect your experience, your perspective, and your inner world. Just because someone else can’t see, relate to, or validate what you’re feeling doesn’t make it any less true.

You don’t need permission to feel. You don’t need others to give it meaning. Honoring your own emotions is an important step toward self-compassion and healing.

💬 What’s one feeling you can acknowledge and sit with today, without needing anyone else’s approval?

You don’t have to explain your pain for it to be valid.

Your feelings are real, even if they don’t make sense to anyone else. You don’t owe anyone a justification, a timeline, or a reason for what you’re experiencing. Pain isn’t diminished by whether it’s understood. It exists, and it matters.

Allow yourself to acknowledge it, honor it, and care for yourself through it. Validation starts from within, and your experience deserves recognition, first and foremost from you.

How can you show yourself compassion for what you’re feeling today?
