Having recurring flareups of itchy whelps throughout the body is a condition called chronic urticaria. Many cases of chronic urticaria have clear triggers, such as insect bites, certain temperatures, foods (such as nuts, shellfish, eggs), stress and medications. There are also cases where the whelp rashes do not have a clear cause. This is termed chronic idiopathic urticaria. The condition is managed by avoiding triggers where possible as well as medication therapy. In the case of medication therapy, antihistamines can be very helpful but there are cases where more advanced therapies are required.
