🚨WE NEED YOUR HELP🚨

The Healing Place needs help with our bi-weekly grief support groups!

Did you know that The Healing Place provides a free meal to all children and families who attend our bi-weekly grief support groups? This is a crucial part of our services as it frees one worry from grieving families minds and allows them to attend our grief support groups without worrying about missing dinner or the cost of eating out. We are passionate about this service but we need your help to continue providing it.

The Healing Place accepts sponsors for each group night! By becoming a sponsor you, your business, organization, church group, etc. provides food for grieving children and families on a group night. There are two ways to become a sponsor:

1️⃣ Call 256-383-7133 or email officemanager@thehealingplaceinfo.org and let us know that you or your organization wants to provide food for our families! You may do this by directly purchasing a meal (ex- Chick-Fil-A nugget platters, BBQ trays, sandwich trays, catering, etc.) and bringing it to one of our scheduled group nights OR by donating to our group night fund so that we can purchase a meal.

💙THP is seeking individuals who are interested in supporting our mission!💙

We need your help to keep THP thriving! We are forming a team of young adults called Heart Healers that will be filled with individuals who are passionate about helping THP further our mission and continue to thrive in the Shoals.

The Heart Healers will meet to discuss fundraising, networking, and connections. We hope that those who want to see THP continue to lead out our mission will donate their time to help us explore new fundraising avenues, become connected with other organizations, and advocate for the necessity of our services.

This is a great opportunity for individuals aged 19-45 who want to:

Join us TONIGHT at THP for an Estate Planning Program presented by Attorney Jocelyn Ward- attorney with Legal Service for Alabama.

This program is offered by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and will be hosted at The Healing Place on March 24th, 2026 at 5:30pm.

This event is open to the community free of charge.

No matter how familiar you are with grief, it’s still hard to know what to say when a death occurs. If you’ve ever found yourself relying on automatic responses, you’re not alone. Most of the time these sentiments come from good intentions and a desire to comfort. At Dougy Center, families share they sometimes brace themselves for the automatic, “I’m sorry for your loss,” or “I'm sorry.” Here's some ideas on what to say instead.
