It was an honor to welcome VA Secretary Doug Collins to Eastern Oklahoma! 🇺🇸

Secretary Collins toured the new James Mountain Inhofe VAMC and the Jack C. Montgomery VAMC to see firsthand how we are expanding access to care and cutting red tape for Eastern Oklahoma veterans. During the visit, he emphasized the sacred duty to provide the highest quality, timely care that our heroes have earned. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Key highlights included:
✅ Touring the VA Medical Center to meet with dedicated staff and veterans.
✅ Discussing new initiatives to reach more veterans in rural areas.
✅ Hearing directly from our veteran community about their needs.

Thank you, Secretary Collins, for your commitment to Oklahoma veterans and for ensuring their voices are heard at the highest levels.

Today, we recognize National Medal of Honor Day and honor the extraordinary courage of those who have received our nation’s highest award for valor.

Since its establishment in 1861, more than 3,500 service members have been awarded the Medal of Honor. Each recipient represents a legacy of sacrifice, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to others.

We honor these heroes and remain grateful for the example they set for all who serve.

🤝Supporting Veterans With More Than a Meal: Social Worker Jennifer Edwards and The Coffee Bunker’s Ongoing Food Donations🫶🍍🍎🍓🍇

🫂Each month social worker Jennifer Edwards, LCSW HUD/VASH Case Manager, starts her morning by loading her car with bags of donated food from The Coffee Bunker, a Tulsa nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans. What looks like a simple delivery route is, for Jennifer, one of the most meaningful parts of the work she does.🚚

🪖Many of the veterans in the HUD-VASH program face ongoing food insecurity, even after achieving stable housing. The Coffee Bunker’s monthly donations allow Jennifer to bring not just groceries, but peace of mind.😊

“I am so grateful for the relationships I have been able to grow over the years with the veterans I work with,” Jennifer shared. “I’m so happy to be able to give them the additional support every month when food insecurity is an issue and just surviving is a struggle. They really make my job worthwhile. I am so proud to be a VA social worker.” ❤️

📍On her visits, Jennifer often spends a few minutes catching up with each veteran—checking how they’re doing, celebrating progress, and offering support through tough seasons. These connections, built month after month, have become a lifeline for many.

📢And for Jennifer, the impact is clear: every bag delivered is an opportunity to strengthen trust, offer dignity, and remind veterans that they are not alone.
