When you strike “gold”, only to be made a “fool”!

Bee swarm trap. Full of bees two days ago. Complete with a queen. Laying brood and building honeycomb.

Closed and moved swarm trap (a perfect invention of a friend of mine. They work - very well.

Moved last night to relocate to one of my apiaries - bee farms.

Opened up to find bees had left. A predator had taken oven. Yellow jackets - mean and ready to sting infinitely.

Found them inside and used bee smoker to try and calm them and not get “lit up”. Bee smoke (pine needles works on yellow jackets! I was able to herd them up and move 200 of them without a bee suit (wouldn’t have protected against yellow jackets anyway!)

Survived another day…

I have the luxury of doing both at the same time. Raised on the Mootz Farm and Ranch, we always had dairy cows, corn, chickens, pigs, apples, cider, and bees…

Thank you Ann Bogler for teaching me how to respect nature and appreciate all the beauty that can be found just a short walk from the asphalt.

I will be buying my mom some fresh cut flowers and some herbs for dinner tomorrow.
