Have you or somebody close to you experienced heart problems in the past?
I invite you to join me as we explore three steps in heart health.
The first step is exercise. I know, I can hear some of you groaning. However, this step is critical for you to improve the health of your heart. Research by the Mayo Clinic suggests that you should exercise at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise, walking, jogging, etc., or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity each week. To accomplish this goal, you need to exercise between 10 to 20 minutes a day. A note of caution, if you have a heart condition, talk to your doctor before you start exercising.
The second step for heart health is to improve your blood pressure. This step is tied directly to the first step of exercising. Reports for the Mayo Clinic suggest that exercise can significantly reduce your blood pressure. Exercise helps strengthen your heart muscles, which in turn helps to pump blood with less effort.
The final step is diet. Diet holds a huge key. Choosing a Mediterranian style diet provides an excellent base for cooking up a heart-healthy meal or guiding your choices from the restaurant menu.
According to authors: Melinda Smith, M.A., Lawrence Robinson, and Robert Segal, M.A. at helpguide.org, learning to enjoy a Mediterranean diet carries positive health benefits such as helping to avoid heart disease and strokes, enhancing muscle fitness, and helping to keep the dreaded Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease at bay.
I sincerely hope these tips will help you enjoy better health. If you enjoyed this article, let us know and share it.
