If you’re feeling like you’re in a rut and need a push to level up, these three things will help!

1) Get around the right people - Find an accountability buddy or a community of people who are trying to do the same thing that you want to do. When you’re around other people who want to level up, you naturally level up too!

2) Track your progress - What gets measured gets managed. Tracking, monitoring, or measuring a metric brings it into focus, allowing for better control and improvement. It’s hard to know what you did before if you don’t track it.

3) Remember why you’re doing this in the first place - What was the moment you said, “enough is enough.” What is the reason for starting this process in the first place? Was there certain clothes you couldn’t fit into? A situation in your life that you wished your fitness was better? Is someone watching that you want to be a positive example for? The WHY has to be bigger than the short term temptations that try to pull you off track.

This keeps a lot of us from making progress.

We wait for the perfect time to start.

“I’ll start tomorrow.”
“I’ll start next week.”
“Monday it is GAME ON!”

And Monday comes and the game in fact wasn’t on.

Life has a way of “lifeing” which means it’s unpredictable. Waiting for the perfect time to start the process of improving your health and fitness is silly, because there will never be a “perfect time.”

Take action now towards the person you want to become. You know you can do it, stop talking yourself out of it. Otherwise a year from now you’re going to be wishing you started today.

How we teach tricep press-downs! 💪🏽

In the gym, we see a lot of elbows coming forward as we bring the handle up. This actually decreases the tension on the triceps.

To get more out of the movement, keep the elbows by your sides rather than letting them pull forward. You’ll feel it more in the back of your arms this way.

The other key instruction here is to slowly raise the bar until your hands break 90 degrees from your elbows. Again, this puts more focus on the triceps.

Why do we implement so much resistance training into our members workouts?

The reason for this is because as we age, we lose 1% of our total muscle per year starting around 30-35 years old. As we get closer to 60-70 years old, that number jumps to about 3%.

When we lose muscle, not only does our metabolism slow down, but our ability to handle simple daily tasks also decreases! Hence why we tend to fall more as we get older.

Strength training combats this from happening. It slows down the aging process by keeping our metabolisms high and it makes sure that we can still function at a high level as we age!

This is why strength training is such a major component of our programming.

The easy days don’t form the discipline as much as the hard days do. Proving to yourself that you can show up when life gets hard makes it easier to do in the future.
