TODAY'S THE DAY! Join us from 5:00-7:00PM for RCC's FREE Children's Book Giveaway Creek Brewhouse where the FIRST 50 PEOPLE will receive a FREE book of your choice. We will also have FREE crayons and coloring sheets for kids, as well as additional resources for parents and caregivers!

NOTE: This event and the books/content shared are designed to help parents, grandparents, and caregivers to start meaningful conversations with their little ones about critical safety topics such as body safety, boundaries, and consent, giving them the tools to prevent unwanted/unsafe touch and interactions with others. These lessons taught now will stay with children as they grow into adulthood and, most importantly, will empower them to set good boundaries without feeling threatened or challenged, and creates trust so kids feel comfortable coming forward and reporting any unwanted and/or unsafe physical interactions with others.

One in four women in the U.S. has experienced an attempted or completed r**e in her lifetime. Sexual violence happens often, which makes it common, and common is often confused with normal. Many women may decide that what happened to them “wasn't that bad” and not reach out for support.

In a recent article published in Psychology Today, Vanessa Carlisle examines the impact of sexual trauma, survivor healing, and asks “Is it really possible for victims of sexual violence to recover fully without justice?”

Sexual violence can happen to anyone. A day after she was groped by a man on the street, Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced she had reported the incident to police.

“We need to make this visible and say no — a firm no,” she said. “Women’s personal space must not be violated. How do we address this? Through awareness campaigns, through schools — because this is also about educating men.”

Most stalkers use multiple tactics to surveil, contact, sabotage, threaten, and otherwise scare their victims —and their behaviors can escalate from indirect ways of making contact (phone calls or texts) to more direct contact (delivering gifts or showing up where the victim is). Victims can feel constantly monitored and in fear. Stalking isn’t about love. It’s about control. Don’t confuse the signs of stalking for romance.

For more than a decade, Shannon Keeler pressed authorities to bring charges against a man who sneaked into her college dorm room in 2013 and sexually assaulted her.
