Welcome Dr. Kristin!

We are excited to share that Kristin Sawyer has joined our team at The Oaks Counseling Group. Kristin earned her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022 and her Doctorate of Education in Sport and Performance Psychology in 2024. She has experience working with student athletes, college aged students and adults in a variety of settings. Kristin will offer services for anxiety, depression, life transitions, professional development and a special focus on sports performance.

Welcome Will!

We are thrilled to have Will Epperson join our team at The Oaks Counseling Group. Will is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Megan Townsend LPC/S candidate and will begin taking clients February 1st at The Oaks!

Will has his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and his Master’s of science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He brings over six years of experience in addiction treatment, working in both residential and outpatient settings. Will’s background in philosophy shapes his interest in the deeper questions- meaning, purpose, identity and values. We look forward to the dynamic ways Will, will enhance our practice and the lives of those he works with.

I’m honored to share that I’ve been appointed to the Board of the South Carolina Clinical Mental Health Counselors Association beginning January 2026.

I’m looking forward to contributing to the mission of supporting clinical mental health counselors across our state, advancing ethical practice, continuing to advocate for legislation change and strengthening our professional community.

Thank you to the board and members for the trust and opportunity to serve. I’m grateful and excited for what’s ahead!

The Holidays are hard for so many and often times we can find ourselves feeling guilty for the feelings we have around this time. Just here to remind you that whatever feeling the holidays bring up for you is okay. You can grieve what is no longer or what’s missing, while also letting your heart fill with peace and expectation. Let yourself experience them all, but let go of the guilt for having them ❤️

Take 2, Holiday edition! Thanksgiving was such a success, we have partnered with a few more businesses, to come alongside the Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand to provide holiday meals to local families. Please consider stopping by one of our locations to donate ❄️

Thank you to everyone who donated, gathered and helped put together Thanksgiving! We were able to partner with Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand and feed 17 families!! We love the Grand Strand and will continue finding ways to support and serve our community. We hope you’ll join us in the future 🤗

Our favorite activity in therapy… identifying our emotions!

It’s hard to manage and cope with our feelings if we don’t first know what we’re feeling. Using charts, images and fun tools like this pillow help teach children (& adults!) how to identify and describe what they’re feeling.
