“I want to change the world!”

It seems like such a noble idea, but it also makes me shutter because I’ve tried it.

What I have found again and again is that a focus on cultivating change outside of ourselves can actually distract us from our real power.

A focus on changing other people is a sure way to guarantee they never change.

A focus on changing the world is like wanting to change other people but on steroids.

So where can we be most powerful with our desire to effect change? Within ourselves!!!

We are the chief executive officers of our lives and when we know that and act accordingly so much can transform so quickly.

I know it’s easier said than done sometimes but whenever you feel that desire to change the world or change another person, take all that energy and pour it into yourself.

If you consistently stay in your own lane and devote your time and energy to your own self care and life cultivation you will be blown away at how differently you feel about the world around you. Your capacity to effect change in the world is compounded. You inspire others to change just by living your best life.

You can actually change the world you see by transforming yourself.

What are you afraid of? Like beyond spiders and snakes and heights… what are your deepest fears?

Is it the fear you’re not good enough?

Is it the fear you will end up making the same mistakes as your family of origin?

Is it the fear you will never find true love?

Is it the fear that one day everyone will finally see the flaws and brokenness underneath your perfect exterior and hightail it out of your life?

No matter what your fears are, and no matter how big they seem, there is something much bigger and stronger that you carry inside you at all times.

It is your inherent goodness.

Your goodness is woven into your DNA and makes up every cell in your body.

Your goodness is the truest part of who you are. It is always with you and never leaves.

Nonetheless we oftentimes can’t access our sense of goodness and get overcome by feeling of unworthiness and inadequacy instead.

So how do we tap into the good within? My favorite trick is to look at a picture of myself as a little one. Even when 42 year old me feels like a giant turd, 3 year old me is obviously perfect with overflowing goodness.

This doesn’t always work for everyone but give it a try. Take your time and just be with that little one that still exists inside of you. She is worthy of your attention and by tapping into her goodness you may find deep healing.

If you want something to change in your life you must focus on taking consistent action in the direction of that change.

It sounds simple but so many people miss this powerful concept.

It’s one thing to intellectually understand something, hire coaches,, read books, listen to podcasts, and ask for the opinions of friends, but knowledge without action does nothing to bring about change.

Action is the magic ingredient that creates the change you seek so if there is a gap between the outcomes you have now and the ones you want, focus on taking consistent action steps in the direction of your goals.

💓 One little action step at a time adds up. Keep going.

If you are feeling worn down after surviving the last 2.5 years, guess what…

1) you’re normal

2) no “serious” plan, process or program is going to be the magic bullet to help you bounce back when you are chronically stressed.

3) to truly heal you will need to start with regulating the nervous system

To the nervous system play is the opposite of trauma. When we make time to play, connect, laugh and create it informs the nervous system that you are safe and allows danger signals to dissipate. The faster you can move from these stressful states to relaxed ones, the better your body systems will function and the healthier you will feel.

So despite all the messages out there don’t keep pushing harder. Stop grinding. Stop looking for the next quick fix. You have the answers within you and it starts with finding ways to play, lighten up, go easy, find space and flow. You deserve to have fun, rest and peace. Now go get you you some!! 🙌

Showing up for everything and everyone else but not making time for yourself sets you on a sure path to burn out.

If you struggle with feelings of sadness, anxiety, irritability and resentfulness you may take a closer look at where you are over extending yourself and where you are not making space for your own self care.

If you want to show up BIG in all the various aspects of your life that is awesome!!

It is important to remember that in order to maintain a high degree of productivity and achievement, and actually feel good, you must also show up for equally big for yourself.

Take a second to think about what you needing right now - Rest? Play? Boundaries? Authentic connection? More free time?

What shifts can you make to get your needs met and prioritize self care?

Tried making zucchini chips in the air fryer. Cut them in thin slices, sprinkled them in salt and rosemary and then air fried at 375 for 15 minutes. Gotta say they were pretty dang good! 💓
