Romans Chapter 1

Specifically, Romans 1 says that when a nation starts rebelling against God, He will lower His hedge of protection around the nation and allow sin to multiply. The first manifestation will be a sexual revolution. God will give the nation over in “the lust of their hearts to impurity, that their bodies might be dishonored among them” (Romans 1:24). Our nation experienced this phenomenon in the decade of the 1960s with the Hippie Revolution and its emphasis on ”free love.”

Romans 1 next says that if the nation refuses to repent, God will lower the hedge of protection further, and the result will be a plague of homosexuality. God will give the nation over to “degrading passions,” for the women will “exchange the natural function for that which is unnatural” — and the men will do the same (Romans 1:25-26). Beginning in the 1970s, our nation started experiencing an outbreak of homosexuality and its demand for same-sex marriage and the endorsement of transgenderism.

The final step in God turning our nation over completely to its sins of rebellion occurred when He lowered the hedge a third time, resulting in the nation being turned over to “depraved minds” (Romans 1:28). That is where we are today.

Our nation is facing a cloud of gloom and doom, but there is a silver lining. Jesus said that in the end times, right before His return, the world will become as evil as it was in the days of Noah (Matthew 24:37-39). If you will take a look at…

Ever Wonder If The "Enemy" Is Getting The Best Of Us?

Chaos and societal disintegration seem to reign.

Good people are squashed as scoundrels cruise past us unscathed.

Natural disasters and wars crush innumerable innocents, while the exploitive, wily, and manipulative rule, imbibing on life's delectables.

A rational observer would conclude that the forces of Light are losing to the forces of the Darkness.

Prior to the cross, Jesus willingly surrendered to a lynch mob, to be strung up, mocked and murdered. As the inquisition began, He commented, "This is your hour when darkness reigns." (Luke 22:53)

How often have you personally felt that this was your hour when Darkness reigns, as you struggled with:
Strained or broken relationships
Frustration over insoluble issues at home or the office
Temptation and sin
If we are to win in our epic battle between good and evil, we need to view it through Jesus' eyes, because He is the One who understands that the Enemy has already been defeated and the victory has been secured. As the preacher said, "Today is Friday, (crucifixion day) but Sunday is coming!" (Resurrection Day).

The truth is that Sunday has already come and the victory has already been secured:

Paul was sent to the lost "to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me." (Acts 26:18) (See Luke 4:18; 2 Corinthians 4:4, 6; Ephesians 1:18; 5:8; 1 Thessalonians 5:4-8)

"[Christ] has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves." (Colossians 1:13) (See John 8:31, 32; Romans 6:17-22; Hebrews 2:14; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 John 2:8)

"Satan, who leads the whole world astray... was hurled to the earth… " (Revelation 12:9b) (See Isaiah 14:12)

Be reassured by Christ's encouragement that "in this world you will have trouble. But take heart I have overcome the world… because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." (John 16:33b; 1 John 4:4b) (See Romans 8:35-37; Galatians 1:4; 1 John 5:4; Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 22; 12:11)

So today, will you choose to rest in the fact that because Sunday has already come, the victory has been won for you? Will you this very moment choose to appropriate and enjoy His triumph?

Stop the killing!
The City of Chicago has been run by Democrats since 1931, making it over 90 years of Democratic leadership. In 2025, there have been 262 homicides in Chicago as of August 21. And they are proud of that number. Last week, the city recorded several incidents, including a mass shooting that resulted in multiple fatalities
Notable Incidents:

A 5-year-old boy was fatally shot in Kenwood. ( last month)
A mass shooting in River North resulted in multiple casualties. 18 shot 4 dead. (last month)

That is only one part of the problem.

More than 50,000 of undocumented migrants have settled in Chicago since August 2022, at a cost to taxpayers close to $600 million. That generosity has included money for rent, food stamps and even cars – a total welfare benefits package that is far more generous than longtime Chicagoans who are American citizens can lawfully obtain. Many African American residents say that landlords have avoided renting to them because they can get more money if they rent to migrants being subsidized by the taxpayers.

Crime in the City

With that influx came a massive increase in criminal activity. In all of 2021, for example, a total of six Venezuelan-born persons were arrested in the city. From January 1 through November 12, 2023, according to the Chicago Police Department, the number of Venezuelans arrested soared to 686 – an increase of 114 times in only 10 months. (Hat Tip: CWBChicago.com and the Federation for American Immigration Reform.) The alleged crimes included one migrant shooting another outside a city shelter, a stabbing at a police station serving as a shelter, and almost 90 arrests for shoplifting from Macy’s and Nordstrom Rack.

In and around Chicago migrant shelters, authorities have been deluged with complaints about teenagers brandishing guns, as well as prostitution, human trafficking, drug-dealing, and open consumption of co***ne and he**in.
