The Resident of the Month for March 2026 is Elisabeth C.

Elisabeth’s story begins in the gentle warmth of North Carolina, where she was born with a tender heart and quiet strength that would guide her through every season of life. She spent most of her childhood in Whiteville, a small town that shaped her strong values, kindness, and deep love for family and community.

Elisabeth was married for 21 years—years filled with commitment, devotion, and shared memories. From that love came one of her greatest blessings: her daughter, and later her grandson who quickly became her “everything.” Her eyes light up at the mention of him. He is the joy in her laughter, the pride in her voice, and the center of her heart.

Caring for others has always come naturally to Elisabeth. It wasn’t just a job—it was who she was. She worked in home health care because she truly loved looking after people, offering comfort, dignity, and compassion to those who needed it most. For many years she also worked in a chiropractor’s office, setting up rooms and assisting the doctor to ensure every patient felt welcomed and cared for.

In 1991, following her love for the ocean, Elisabeth moved to Little River. The beach became her refuge—a peaceful place where the waves and horizon reminded her of life’s beauty.

Today at Angel Oak, Elisabeth enjoys life’s simple pleasures and meaningful connections. She treasures visits from friends and family, loves the excitement of bingo, and enjoys musical entertainment, letting the melodies lift her spirit. And if you ask about her favorite treat, she’ll likely smile and admit she’d happily eat oatmeal cookies every day—though she’ll laugh and say she has to watch what she eats.

Elisabeth’s life is a testament to devotion—to family, to caring for others, and to finding joy in the simple moments. Her quiet strength, steady love, and kind spirit make her truly special.

Congratulations, Elisabeth, on being our Resident of the Month. We are so grateful to have you here at Angel Oak. Your warmth and kindness brighten our community every day. ✨

✨ Team Spotlight ✨

Meet Daniel Thorpe, our dedicated Transporter at Angel Oak Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born and raised in Maryland, Daniel has called the Myrtle Beach area home—and Angel Oak family—for the past four years.

After a long and meaningful career serving individuals with developmental disabilities, including a ten-year leadership role, Daniel relocated his family to the beach in search of a better work-life balance and a new community to support. With his extensive experience assisting individuals who use wheelchairs, the Transporter position was a perfect fit.

Beyond transporting residents to and from medical appointments, Daniel is an invaluable support to our Activities Department. From helping develop monthly calendars and newsletters to singing his heart out for residents whenever he can, Daniel brings energy, creativity, and joy to everything he does.

Daniel is deeply passionate about people, person-centered care, meaningful connections, and continuity of care—and he has a special gift for helping others find small moments of joy in their everyday lives. We are so grateful to have him as part of the Angel Oak team 💙

🌟 Resident of the Month – February 2026 🌟

The Resident of the Month for February 2026 is Dewitt. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Dewitt has always stood out for his brilliance, talent, and determination.

From a young age, his gifts were undeniable. Academically advanced and musically gifted, he mastered several instruments—most notably the drums, where his passion truly shined. His talents extended beyond music as he also excelled on the basketball court and football field.

Dewitt’s intelligence propelled him forward, earning early advancement in school and acceptance into one of New York City’s top academic high schools. In 1981, he proudly answered the call to serve by joining the United States Navy, dedicating five years of his life to service. During his enlistment, he continued his education and achieved exceptional academic success.

Today, Dewitt is a proud father of four and a devoted grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren. Family is his greatest joy—along with his love for cooking and grilling, bringing everyone together with big heart and bold flavors.

After relocating to Myrtle Beach in 2021, Dewitt faced health challenges that reshaped his journey. Through it all, he continues to show resilience, gratitude, and grace. As a resident of Angel Oak, he is thankful for the dedicated staff who support him each day.

Dewitt’s life is a true celebration of talent, service, family, and perseverance.
Congratulations, Dewitt! We are so honored to have you as our Resident of the Month and so glad you are here with us. 💙
