Evening Update 1-25-2026

While there is no forecasted precipitation for the area tonight, we remain under a severe cold warning and temperatures will drop into the teens tonight. Residents are advised to drip their faucets and keep sink cabinet doors open to help avoid frozen pipes.

There are a large number of ongoing power outages in the area, primarily in the county. Oncor and Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative are working quickly to restore power to those individuals as soon as possible. Residents experiencing power outages should check for updates online at Oncor.com or deepeast.com, or via phone at 888-313-4747 (Oncor) or 1-866-392-5986 (Deep East Texas Co-op).

With temperatures dropping this evening and street conditions remaining slick, residents are asked to avoid all unnecessary travel.

Godtel (1902 Douglass Road) remains available to receive anyone in need of shelter or a warming station throughout today.

Residents needing to report a non-emergency issue may call the non-emergency line at 936-234-5205.

Sanitation collection for residential and commercial customers will not run tomorrow due to the conditions. All trash collection will be pushed back one day from the normal collection day.

As a reminder, all city offices will be closed tomorrow due to the conditions.

📌 Celebrate Recovery – Monthly Calendar Challenge

💥 This month, we’re inviting YOU to help us fill the calendar to continue making room for healing, hope, and transformation.

💥 Here’s how you can help:
👉 Pick a day (or two) that is meaningful to you this month

👉 Sow that amount as a donation toward Celebrate Recovery

👉 Comment on the original post with the date(s) you choose so we can mark it covered
💥 If giving financially isn’t possible right now, sharing this post is a powerful way to support the ministry—and it is deeply appreciated.
đź’Ą From experience, we know that when we are obedient in our sowing, God is always faithful in His timing. Sometimes the Lord is simply looking for our willingness to be faithful in the small things before He entrusts us with greater things.

💥 Celebrate Recovery is changing lives—one step, one story, one surrendered heart at a time—and YOU are part of that mission.

💥 We love each and every one of you and are so thankful for this community. Praying you are blessed beyond measure this season ❤️

Even when the world gets a little dark, God’s light still shines through. We don’t have to hide from the shadows — we just have to carry His light wherever we go.🔥🕯️

đź’¬ Confess and Be Free
This Friday is Lesson 12: Confess — one of the most freeing steps in the recovery process. Don’t carry the weight alone.
🙌 Bring your heart and leave your burdens at the cross.

🤝 Recovery is not meant to be done in isolation.
There’s a community ready to walk with you — through the tears, the victories, and the setbacks.
