It's Day! We want to highlight our Caregiver Paula Bailey, who is making a difference in Billings, MT! We love 🌟celebrating🌟 our wonderful team members who truly go above and beyond for their clients, communities, and fellow coworkers.

Paula supports an individual living with muscular dystrophy, and she has never treated this as simply a job – she calls him family and lives those words every day. Her care extends far beyond the home. Paula takes him camping, fishing, and on summer vacations, ensuring he experiences joy and dignity. When he is hospitalized, Paula stays by his side to provide support.

Paula also makes her client’s dreams come true. When he turned 29, she surprised him with a trip to Las Vegas, creating memories that he still treasures. She later helped him return to his hometown of Wolf Point, giving him time with loved ones and moments he’ll hold close forever.

Thank you, Paula, for your unwavering commitment in the care you provide. By going above and beyond to personalize supports for your client, you help him to reach his goals and live his best life.

As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, we are sharing the voices of our employees on what this month means to them.

Shawanna Dawson, Human Resources and Recruitment Coordinator, reflects on the strength, resiliency, and creativity of Black individuals who’ve shaped history and continue to influence today.

"As a college‑educated Black woman, I see Black History Month as a reminder that my opportunities didn’t just appear – they were fought for. Every diploma, every job, every door I’ve walked through is connected to someone before me who pushed, marched, prayed, and refused to accept limits.

But as a Black boy mom, Black History Month hits even deeper. It’s not just about looking back – it’s about looking forward. It’s about teaching my sons who they are and where they come from, so they can walk confidently into rooms that weren’t built with them in mind. It’s about showing them that greatness is in their DNA, that they come from inventors, leaders, scholars, dreamers, and freedom fighters. It’s about preparing them for a world that will challenge them, while reminding them they are capable, brilliant, and worthy.

Black History Month is a celebration.
It’s a history lesson.
It’s a source of pride.
And it’s a promise – a commitment to keep building, keep rising, and keep passing down the strength that was passed down to me. For me, Black History Month is love. Legacy. And hope for the next generation standing in my house, looking up at me with their beautiful Black boy joy!"

Black History Month is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the Black community in our history, in our countries, in our communities, and in our workplaces. Additionally, the month provides organizations an opportunity to reflect and act to create truly diverse, equitable, and inclusive cultures where everybody can thrive.

This year’s Black History Month will celebrate the theme of A Century of Black History Commemorations. 2026 marks a century of national commemorations of Black history. Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson, George Cleveland Hall, William D. Hartgrove, Jesse E. Moorland, Alexander L. Jackson, and James E. Stamps institutionalized the teaching, study, dissemination, and commemoration of Black history when they founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH) on September 9, 1915.

In 1925, when Dr. Carter G. Woodson planned the inaugural week-long observance of Black history, he could hardly have anticipated the imprint he would leave on the world. From Negro History Week to Black History Month, ASALH has carried forth the tradition, and the observances have become part of the warp and woof of American culture and increasingly the global community. For our 100th theme, the founders of Black History Month urge us to explore the impact and meaning of Black history and life commemorations in transforming the status of Black peoples in the modern world.
