Meet our founder and fearless leader - Dr. Megan LeFave!

Dr. Megan LeFave and her husband moved to Middleton in 2017 and have loved becoming part of the community. She feels incredibly fortunate to also be a member of the Treasure Valley veterinary community and is deeply passionate about helping pets live pain-free lives through rehabilitation medicine, acupuncture, and Chinese medicine.

From 2017 to 2020, Dr. LeFave worked at WestVet as both a Canine Rehabilitation Veterinarian and an Emergency Veterinarian. In 2023, she founded what is now PetMotion with the goal of improving pets’ mobility and quality of life. Her commitment to advancing rehabilitation medicine in the Treasure Valley led to focusing on restoring mobility, relieving pain, and strengthening the bond between pets and the people who love them.

Her vision has always been to build a team of veterinarians, rehabilitation nurses, and client service professionals with advanced training in Canine Rehabilitation and Medical Acupuncture. Together, their goal is to create individualized treatment plans utilizing advanced therapies to help pets stay active, comfortable, and pain-free.

When she’s not working, riding her horses, or tending to their small farm, Dr. LeFave enjoys hiking and camping with her husband and their three German Shorthaired Pointers—Ginny, Franny, and Dewey.

Thank you for all you do Dr. LeFave!

Pet of the week: Leo!!!

Leo initially came to us for loss of use of his hind end after a back injury.

During his initial exam in December, Leo had neurologic deficits and could not move his hind legs. However, Leo was deep pain positive - this meant that he was able to feel them which was a promising sign for us!

Dr. Pryde, Dr. Turner and Leo’s family worked together and were determined to get Leo as much mobility back as possible!

The first step was ordering Leo a cart so he could still be independent and also encourage him not to drag his hind end as this can become a reinforced behavior and discourage Leo from improving. Leo took to this like a pro!

Next, Leo was given an exercise program to help with his hind end awareness and build his strength and muscle back up. We also used our laser to treat any pain and inflammation in his back and hind legs.

Then, Leo received acupuncture therapy with electrical stimulation (E-stim). This means that specific nerve points are stuck with acupuncture needles and a e-stim device is connected to those needles to deliver mild electrical pulses through the nerves to stimulate the nerves even further. It also can help with muscle contraction to control pain and improve muscle strength!

With time, dedication and consistency - Leo gained more mobility and strength and began walking, then playing, then even running and now no longer needs his cart!

We are so happy we are able to help families and pets like Leo’s and share their story. Thank you to Leo’s family for trusting us with your sweet boy! We are so proud of him!

Pet of the Week: Nessie!

Nessie came to us after having MPL surgery and being diagnosed with hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia. To the untrained eye; it may seem like Nessie is walking fine in her first video, but to us we see lack of hip flexion, stifle flexion, and overall poor posture.

After her surgeon cleared her for activity, Nessie received a formulated ground exercise plan to specifically address her overall concerns, laser therapy to address inflammation and muscle tension, and acupuncture to address pain management.

As Nessie progressed her plans were updated to more advanced exercises, less laser and acupuncture, and introduce underwater treadmill for better gait patterning, muscle build, stamina and weight loss!

Now, Nessie is back to fetching the ball, going on hikes and playing pain free!

Here at PetMotion we are passionate about helping get you and your pet back to the things they love - comfortably! We are always adjusting to your pets needs and concerns and ready to help!

Does your pet have a story like Nessie’s? Our rehab team is here to help. Reach out today to learn more about treatment options at (208) 960-0609 or petmotionvet@gmail.com
