Providence Community Health Foundation Napa Valley

Providence Community Health Foundation Napa Valley Facing the end of life or caring for a loved one with a serious illness can be very stressful, and at times, overwhelming. We can help. We’ll be there for you.

Our mission is to ensure that Providence Community Health Napa Valley has sufficient resources to provide whole person, compassionate care for individuals and their families who are experiencing serious illness, the transitions of aging, and end of life. If you are struggling, call us at 707-258-9080. We are the leading community-based care and resource center in the North Bay for those facing the end of life, and the only nonprofit hospice serving the Napa Valley. And we’ve been here for nearly four decades ¬— giving compassionate care to individuals in their homes or wherever they call home — and providing much-needed respite for family caregivers. Our specially trained hospice professionals and volunteers will be there for you with a deeply caring heart and a listening ear during this time of transition. And after a loved one has passed away, our bereavement counselors and trained volunteers will continue to serve you with compassionate support -- because we know that grief is a process that takes time. You don’t have to cope with the end of life or caregiving alone. Our staff is ready to respond 24-hours a day, 7 days a week — whether you need information, a phone call, or a visit.

Children often process grief in ways that differ from teenagers and adults. They may lack the vocabulary or emotional maturity to articulate their feelings. Some might seem fine initially, but later show signs of regression, such as thumb-sucking or bed-wetting. Additionally, physical symptoms like changes in appetite, sleep issues, headaches, and stomachaches are common manifestations of grief in children.

Tender Steps is a specialized program designed for children aged 5-10 to help them cope with grief. This initiative is brought to you by Providence Community Health Napa Valley in collaboration with Cope Family Center. The next class is tomorrow:

📅 Thursday, February 19
✨ BEADED MEMORY BRACELET

Be sure to read about our great friend Pam and her extraordinary journey!

By choosing hospice care, Napa Valley’s Pam Harter received a number of benefits, including holistic support, a care plan that meets her needs, and the ability to let go of treatments that weren't working in favor of living well with the time left to her. It also inspired her mission to become the first hospice patient to travel to space.

“By sharing her experience, she is helping families understand that hospice is not about giving up – it is about living fully, receiving the right support earlier and focusing on quality of life. Her voice is helping reduce the stigma around hospice care and that may be one of the most meaningful legacies any of us could leave.” -Kathy Winn, Compassus.
