Intracept procedure recovery: How quickly can you get back on your feet after this minimally invasive treatment? 🌟

Chronic pain can be exhausting, especially when you feel you’ve “tried everything and nothing works.” At Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group, the Intracept procedure is offering hope for those with persistent low back pain—even when interventions like medication, injections, and physical therapy have not provided relief.

The Intracept procedure, also known as basivertebral nerve ablation, is a minimally invasive treatment tailored for people with chronic low back pain lasting at least six months and unresponsive to conservative care.

What can patients expect?

- Outpatient treatment (most procedures last 60 to 90 minutes)
- Plan to rest and avoid exercise for about 48 hours after
- Short-term effects may include slight soreness, a little bruising, or minor swelling at the incision site

In studies, meaningful improvements can be seen as early as three months, with sustained progress at twelve months for many. It’s about opening the door to a better, more active life.

Every story of recovery is unique. Support, expert guidance, and a personal approach are key—and that’s what Dr. Weisbein and the care team strive to provide every day.

Kyphoplasty offers significant pain and disability improvements for spine fractures in your 60s, according to clinical evidence. 💫

Turning 60 brings wisdom and a new chapter, but it can also bring challenges like increased risk for vertebral compression fractures. These fractures often cause sudden, severe spine pain that may limit movement and independence.

Kyphoplasty provides a treatment option for patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, especially for those whose pain persists despite conservative care. Many people feel frustrated after trying medications and physical therapy without lasting relief. Hope returned.

What is Kyphoplasty?
- A minimally invasive procedure
- Guided by X-ray, a needle is placed into the fractured vertebra
- A balloon-like device is used to restore bone height and shape
- The space is filled with special bone cement for stability

Internet-based clinical studies have shown that, compared to conservative treatment alone, Kyphoplasty offers:
- Superior pain reduction from 1 month to 12 months
- Significant improvements in mobility and daily function at 1 and 3 months
- Better long-term outcomes in pain and disability scores

Strong women and men in our community deserve treatment options that honor their resilience and lead to brighter tomorrows. Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group is proud to bring expertise in interventional pain management to support every patient’s personalized journey.

Your spine story does not have to be defined by pain. There are options. And sometimes, one procedure can give people back parts of their lives. Inspired by possibility.

Have you or someone you know struggled with spine pain in your 60s? What questions do you have about Kyphoplasty or interventional pain management? Share below—we’re here to support and celebrate your strength.

Mild procedure gives hope to patients seeking to walk farther with less pain and new freedom in motion. 💙

Diagnosis after diagnosis. Years of trying and not feeling heard. Many people with chronic pain dream of simply walking farther, standing longer, or even joining a stroll with friends again. That longing for movement became the focus for so many in our care.

The Mild Procedure is inspiring new possibilities for those navigating lumbar spinal stenosis where the ligamentum flavum has thickened, making everyday movement feel like an uphill battle. What stands out is just how well-tolerated this minimally invasive lumbar decompression can be.

Clinical studies show remarkable outcomes for the right candidates:
- Pain intensity may be reduced by approximately 50%
- Effectiveness rates in studies range from 57.1% to 88%
- Safety profile similar to an epidural steroid injection
- Leaves no intra-spinal adhesions (so if surgery is needed down the road, there’s less worry)

Most encouraging? Patients who once felt limited by pain find motion again. That can mean regaining walks with loved ones, standing at big family milestones, or simply getting back the parts of life that matter.

Care at Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group is about more than a procedure. Every patient receives boutique, highly personalized care with a holistic focus—lifestyle tips, exercise guidance, and real attention to what makes you, you. Dr. Jackie Weisbein, DO, is honored to walk alongside each patient as they reclaim strength and independence.

Have you or a loved one considered new options for chronic low back pain or spinal stenosis? What would being able to move more freely mean for you?

Neuropathy treatment in cold weather matters because neuropathy affects 25%-30% of Americans—are you prepared? ❄️

As temperatures drop, many living with chronic pain from neuropathy notice their symptoms intensify. The cold can feel harsher on already sensitive nerves, bringing on more pain, numbness, and tingling. It’s common for those affected to feel more frustrated or even isolated as they try to keep up with life’s demands.

Neuropathy, also referred to as peripheral neuropathy, occurs when peripheral nerves are damaged. These nerves extend from your spinal cord and help control movement, sensation, and even essential functions like digestion and urination. When nerve fibers are disrupted, it can lead to symptoms such as:
- Pain and burning sensations
- Numbness or tingling
- Weakness in hands or feet
- Difficulty balancing or grasping objects
- Heightened sensitivity to touch

Diabetes is one of the most common causes of neuropathy. Other possible causes include autoimmune disorders, infections, thyroid disease, bone marrow disorders, tumors, alcoholism, trauma, and more. If you notice these symptoms, especially as seasons change, it’s important to pay attention and seek expert help.

At Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group, Dr. Weisbein leads with compassion and cutting-edge care. Every patient receives a thorough neurological assessment, with evaluations of reflexes, coordination, and sensation. Diagnostic steps may include blood tests, MRI scans, and nerve function studies to create the most individualized pain management plans.

Treatment options are always personal and may involve medication, topical therapies, TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), physical therapy, nerve blocks, or even spinal cord stimulation. Evidence shows that many pharmacological treatments for neuropathic pain provide modest relief, so shared decision making is at the center of our care.

Care is never one-size-fits-all. Dr. Weisbein understands the deep desire to return to the activities you love, even when neuropathy complicates daily life.

How does cold weather affect your symptoms or routines? What steps have you found supportive during the winter months?

Facet joint injections could be the turning point if neck or back pain keeps you from living fully.

Many people feel discouraged when chronic pain makes even basic activities seem challenging. At Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group, we see the determination it takes to keep searching for answers when discomfort lingers, especially in the neck or lower back.

Facet joint injections may be an option for those who have not found relief with other methods. These are medicines placed in and around the facet joints—tiny articulations between each vertebra, near the back of your spine.

Patients with neck, middle, or lower back pain from arthritis, or following an injury, are often considered for this treatment. Some may also experience radiating pain in areas like the buttocks, upper legs, or shoulders.

Key facts about facet joint injections:
- Placed directly into the facet joints by Dr. Weisbein
- May relieve radiating pain in your buttocks, upper legs, or shoulders
- Often considered for those with arthritis or injury-related spine pain

It can feel isolating to “try everything and nothing works.” We want you to know—your struggle is seen. Every day, patients arrive at our doors with stories of loss but also incredible perseverance. And often, the right intervention can spark real hope.

Considering whether facet joint injections could help you, or wondering when to talk to your doctor about options like these?

We’d love to hear: what has helped you manage chronic neck or back pain so far, and what are you hopeful for next? Share your story or questions below.

Epidural steroid injection precision is reshaping pain relief as clinical evidence highlights fluoroscopic guidance.

Every day, patients struggling with chronic pain search for answers. Many have tried so much, only to feel frustrated and unheard. At Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group, compassion meets innovation.

Epidural steroid injections bring expert science and hope together. Dr. Jackie Weisbein, DO, provides a wide range of injections, including epidural steroid injections. These procedures deliver pain-relieving anesthetics and powerful anti-inflammatories directly to damaged tissue, right where it counts.

Clinical evidence points to the importance of precision. Fluoroscopic guidance helps position the injection, supporting outcomes for patients who have radicular pain as part of an active therapy program.

Who might benefit?
- Selected patients experiencing radicular pain
- Those seeking new options as part of an active therapy plan
- Individuals who want a treatment approach rooted in evidence

There is insufficient evidence that epidural steroid injections are effective in the absence of radicular symptoms. Personalized recommendations are always key.

The journey back to better movement and less pain often takes a team. At Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group, each patient receives thoughtful care that goes beyond the procedure to support their quality of life.

Sacroiliac joint pain starts where your spine meets your pelvis—do you know why this spot matters so much? 💡

The sacroiliac (SI) joint is a small but mighty connection linking the sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of your spine) to the ilium (part of your pelvis). When something disrupts this area—even a little—the results can be life-changing.

Sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction refers to pain or discomfort arising from abnormalities or imbalances in the sacroiliac joint, which connects the sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of the spine) to the ilium (part of the pelvis). Many patients are surprised at how often SI joint dysfunction goes overlooked, especially when their chronic pain, stiffness, or mobility issues do not match what shows up on a scan.

Why can SI joint pain feel so defeating? This tiny joint is deeply involved in almost everything you do:
- Helps your body absorb shock from walking, running, or lifting
- Transfers weight and movement between your upper body and legs
- Supplies stability for sitting, standing, and even rolling over in bed

Potential contributors to SI joint pain include trauma, pregnancy-related ligament laxity, degenerative and inflammatory conditions, leg length discrepancy, overuse or repetitive stress, muscle imbalance, sacroiliitis, structural abnormalities, and stress fractures.

Common symptoms include lower back pain (often one-sided), buttock pain that may radiate down one leg, pain in the hip, groin or thigh, pain when twisting, bending, or lifting, pain while sitting, and occasionally swelling or warmth if there is inflammation.

Diagnosing SI joint pain can be complex and typically involves a combination of medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests.

Care plans progress step-by-step. Many start with targeted physio and lifestyle changes. Treatments may advance to injections, radiofrequency denervation, or surgery—but only if needed.

Every story is unique. At Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group, the team listens, supports, and tailors care to your life and goals.

Have you ever wondered if your symptoms might be linked to the SI joint? What questions do you have about this often-hidden source of chronic pain?

Spinal cord stimulation offers hope for retirees seeking a more active, pain-free life with improved quality and sleep. 🌟

Chronic pain can feel like it puts the world on pause. For those dreaming of rounds of golf, long walks, or a quiet night’s rest but held back by chronic low back pain or sacroiliac joint issues, there is a new path forward.

Spinal cord stimulation, offered at Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group by Dr. Weisbein, is redefining pain management. Imagine a specialized device—gently placed under the skin between your vertebrae and spinal cord—sending low levels of electrical impulses to support long-lasting relief. With every small victory, hope grows stronger.

Spinal cord stimulator surgery is often a two-step process. First, a temporary device lets you experience the potential benefits for about a week. If relief is achieved, a permanent stimulator may be placed, and most patients return home the same day.

So, why consider spinal cord stimulation?
- Spinal cord stimulation can also improve your sleep and quality of life, and reduce the need to take pain medicines for relief.
- Many patients report more freedom to enjoy favorite activities again.
- This approach is especially helpful for those with chronic pain after other treatments haven’t worked—including post-surgical pain, chronic low back pain, nerve pain after injuries, pain following spinal surgeries, or conditions like complex regional pain syndrome.

Recovery is generally quick. Most experience only mild soreness near the incision as their body adjusts.

Each patient’s journey is different—but the goal is shared: to reclaim more of what you love. Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group believes in care that inspires, supports, and uplifts you through every step.

Have you or someone you love considered options like spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain? What gave you hope on your journey? Let’s talk below.

Nerve pain is unique because symptoms like tingling or electrical sensations and sensitivity to touch set it apart.

Chronic pain affects so many in our Napa Valley community, but nerve pain (neuropathy) stands out in a very real way. Patients often describe it as sharp, burning, or even feeling like a "jolt"—and this experience can disrupt daily life, sleep, and personal goals. Grateful for everyone seeking real answers!

What truly differentiates nerve pain?
- Tingling or electrical sensations in your back, legs, or arms
- Sensitivity to touch, where even gentle contact brings discomfort
- Numbness or a feeling of weakness
- Loss of balance or a sense that your nerves "aren't working right"

If any of these sound familiar, you are not alone. Neuropathy can show up in different ways, depending on which nerves are affected. At Napa Valley Orthopaedic Medical Group, evaluation always begins with a careful medical history and neurological assessment (reflexes, sensitivity to touch, coordination). Sometimes bloodwork, advanced imaging, or nerve function tests are needed.

Empowered by science and compassion, Dr. Jackie Weisbein and her team create highly personalized care plans. Treatment is designed around you and may include:
- Physical therapy to restore movement
- TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation)
- Topical treatments and medication (guided by the latest expert evidence)
- Nerve blocks or spinal cord stimulation for tough cases

Strong, evidence-based recommendations support options like tricyclic antidepressants, serotonin-noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors, and pregabalin for neuropathic pain (according to international medical guidelines).

Inspired by every patient who refuses to give up on relief. Your journey matters. Together, we explore new avenues—personalized to your pain, your goals, and your story. 💫

Which symptom has impacted your life most, and what do you wish more people understood about nerve pain?
