An athlete came in with what they believed was just a strained neck from football and wrestling. During the history and examination, a few things stood out that did not match a simple muscle strain. That careful evaluation led to taking cervical spine imaging, which revealed an avulsion fracture in the lower cervical spine that absolutely needed attention!

Over the course of decades, I’ve visited a few chiropractors for recurring pinched nerve pain and issues with my neck and upper back. I was a competitive swimmer for years and have since continued with my lap swimming sets to stay active. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve struggled with certain swim strokes and movements due to pain and that I had to shorten, change, and limit my workouts. Each time the pain would flare up to an intolerable level, I rushed to find a nearby chiropractor and each time the visit would consist of a quick neck/spinal adjustment and maybe some heat therapy, then I was sent on my way. No x-rays, nothing else. Sure, they helped to give some relief at the time but this was a bandaid solution; one wrong movement several months later and the pain would return. Dr. Jon and his staff strive to not only help you with pain relief right away, but find the root cause of your issue and then provide a plan to resolve it. After just a few visits, I’ve noticed significant improvement in my pain level and have become much more aware of my posture and habits throughout the day. 🔍 When knee pain is not really a knee problem…

This young patient came to us with knee pain after seeing another provider and not responding to care.

In our office, the knee examination was normal, but something from the history and evaluation did not match the picture. Focus was expanded to include the hip and this warranted some x-rays.

The result? A diagnosis of Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE), a hip condition that can refer pain to the knee and requires immediate orthopedic surgeon intervention. Treating the knee alone would have missed the real diagnosis.
