Happy Hanukkah from Bluebird Counselingse Services S

As the Festival of Lights begins, we want to wish a meaningful and peaceful Hanukkah to all who celebrate. This season invites reflection, resilience, and hope—even in small moments of light during darker times.

May the candles remind you to pause, breathe, and notice the warmth of connection, tradition, and care—whether with family, chosen family, or within yourself.

Wishing you nights filled with light, comfort, and gentleness.

Sending positive vibes your way,
Bluebird Counseling Services

Jane Addams Day — December 10

Happy Jane Addams Day!
Today we honor the pioneering social worker, peace activist, and fierce advocate for community care. Jane Addams believed in something simple and radical: when we take care of each other, we change the world.

Her work at Hull House laid the foundation for modern social work—reminding us that healing is both individual and collective.

For me, her legacy is a grounding force in this work. It’s a reminder to show up with empathy, curiosity, and courage… even when the world feels heavy. Her values of dignity, belonging, and community support continue to shape the heart of this practice.

Here’s to the changemakers, the helpers, and every person doing the quiet, meaningful work of creating safer, more connected communities. 💙✨

Alex is attending the Perinatal Mental Health Advanced Psychotherapy Training today through Postpartum Support International — one step closer to earning her PMH-C certification.

Honestly… who could think of a better way to spend a training day? 💛 Supporting birthing people and new parents is sacred work, and continuing to grow in this specialty feels exactly right.

🎙️ LIVE at IMSA!
This week, I had the privilege of recording a live podcast with students at the Illinois Math and Science Academy — diving deep into what it’s really like to be a stressed-out teen who’s 2e (twice-exceptional).

Being 2e means being both gifted and navigating learning differences, and that combination can make life feel like a rollercoaster. These students spoke with such honesty about the pressure to perform, the fear of disappointing others, and the constant tug-of-war between capability and overwhelm.

What struck me most was their insight: they know what they need — more understanding, less perfectionism, and spaces where being both brilliant and struggling is allowed.

To every 2e teen out there: you don’t have to fit neatly into one box. You can be complex, capable, and still learning how to manage stress and expectations. 💙

Sometimes when life feels heavy, a little shift in your space can bring a big shift in your spirit ✨ Rearranging and refreshing the office isn’t just about a new layout—it’s about creating calm, clarity, and a fresh perspective.

When big life changes happen, it helps to have healthy ways to ground yourself:
🌱 Moving your body
📖 Journaling it out
💙 Talking with a trusted friend or therapist
🌞 Getting fresh air and sunlight
🙏 Practicing mindfulness or prayer

Change doesn’t have to feel overwhelming—sometimes it starts with a new desk angle and grows from there. 💫
