As we head into the winter months, a reminder about the importance of moving. 8000 steps a day = you live longer. In addition to this, it helps arthritis and pain. Add a layer, and go outside for a walk.

Adults who took 8,000 or more steps a day had a reduced risk of death over the following decade than those who only walked 4,000 steps a day.

Evidence based. Masking and hand washing are easy to do and decrease the risk of catching any respiratory illness, not just COVID-19.

Keeping at least one metre apart and wearing face masks and eye protection are the best ways to cut the risk of COVID-19 infection, according to the largest review to date of studies on coronavirus disease transmission.

I hope this post finds all of you staying sane and fever free during this shelter-in-place spring season.

We really are starting to see a flattening of the curve regarding new cases of febrile illness with cough and body aches (Covid-19 symptoms). We need to remain diligent with our social distancing in order to ensure we tamp down this large brush fire. We don't wan't it to become a forest fire for sure.

I've attached a great image from Vox that explains the difference between influenza and SARS-CoV2. I hope it helps explain why we are being so careful with it.

The Covid-19 pandemic has upended all of our lives. Despite this sudden change in all of our routines, chronic diseases still exist. Don't forget to watch your diets (especially you diabetics and people with heart disease) and to move every day.

With shelter-in-place keeping us at home, DFM is doing 75% of our patient visits virtually, via either Face Time or Facebook Messenger. If you need an appointment, please call and we can schedule you, from the comfort of your favorite chair!
