Yesterday at The Auberge at Naperville we celebrated our Resident/Family Thanksgiving Luncheon! We are thrilled so many were able to attend and be part of this special day with us.

Thanksgiving is filled with laughter, love, and gratitude. We cherish these moments spent with our residents and their loved ones, and look forward to many more years of celebrating this special holiday together!

Happy Veterans Day to all who are serving, who have served and especially the nine brave men and women that live her at Auberge who served. On Veterans Day- Gentiva Hospice provided a very fitting and dignified pinning, certificate ceremony. We are fortunate to have all four of the branches represented in the community. There was also a bugler that played Taps before each veteran’s name was called together. Their name were called separately and that is when they were pinned, given a certificate of appreciation and a big Thank You for serving all those years ago. We had many family members present, to help recognize our veterans who served and that also added to the day. Also each veteran was presented with a stars and stripes throw blanket that was specially made with love and respect for our men and women. Also there was a reception afterwards for all those who attended.

Trick or Treating with Witches, Goblins and wizards of Grace’s Place. They were very surprised to be greeted by a Grand Wizard and Good Witch as they entered the building on Wednesday. Once they were in the building and petting Sassy, they were ready to start their sweet adventure down the halls. As they were escorted down the hallways, they were greeted with smiles, joy and teats from all of those that lined the halls outside their room. The witches and wizards were having so much fun going from person to person as they worked down the halls. They stopped in the 300 dining for a little break and then they went a little beyond to be greeted by Claudia and Jim who think that passing out candy is the best part of Halloween. Claudia and Jim were very thankful that they were still able to pass out candy for Halloween. After out visitors left the building, some of us did enjoy partaking in little bit of candy that was left over. We hope that everyone enjoyed the Day, we sure did.

Oh did we have fun yesterday packing treat bags for the Trick or Treaters. We had several people assist with packing and we had so much fun. Once all of the candy was dumped onto the table and gloves were on our hands, it was a mad frenzy of candy packing. As you can see we are packing gloves, so some have candy fingers while others have candy palm, also some have few pieces and others are filled. Once packed Evelina and Michael tied them up to seal and look fancy, but did get assistance at the end from Orbania with the tie ups.

We have started the Halloween Season with a Naperville Haunting of the Area. A group boarded the bus for a spooky tour of Naperville to see the decorated, spooky and scary sights on people’s lawns. We too along some family members to assist us if we got too spooked. It was very thrilling and interactive as we went from sight to sight, at each house we compared with the last and made comments on the spookiness. At some point we could see the fog and smoke before we arrived as we turned the corners. Michael did get out so that you could see what we saw from the bus, but no one was brave enough shall we say to get off. We preferred the safety and warmth of the bus. Either way everyone enjoyed the hauntings and spookiness and are very excited for the week that we have planned. So if you are free sometime this week come see what we have instore for Halloween.
