Shoulder pain is extremely common, and it often begins in the muscles around the shoulder blade before spreading into the joint and down the arm.
Some common symptoms include:
• Pain in the shoulder or upper back
• Muscle weakness around the shoulder blade
• Difficulty reaching overhead
Shoulder pain can be caused by several things, including:
• Muscle strain or spasm
• Poor posture from long hours sitting or driving
• Repetitive movements or overuse injuries
• Pinched nerves in the neck or upper back
• Rotator cuff irritation or impingement
• Arthritis or joint instability
Because the shoulder is such a mobile joint, it’s also one of the easiest to irritate.
Massage therapy can help reduce tension, improve range of motion, and support recovery so you can begin strengthening the area again.
⚠️ If shoulder pain occurs along with nausea, shortness of breath, cold sweats, or pain radiating into the left arm, neck, or back, call 911 immediately.
